Hi all.

I've been trying to find a guide or information on how to run EmuNAND on vWii, or if its even possible. I haven't been able to google the right combination of words/sentence.

If anyone here could point me into the right direction i would appreciate it a lot.

Got the itch for some OoT and Majora's Mask ;)

Thanks!

ok, the story with emuNAND on vWii :
Your best bet is to do it through cIOS D2X v10 beta r52 and a Backup Loader such as WiiFlow or USBLoader GX.

The problem is that that particular game (Majora's Mask) DOESN'T work with cIOS emuNAND and ONLY will work with a SNEEK/UNEEK type setup.
That's a problem because the although the vWii version of that program exists it has NOT been released (yet?).

To put it simply, the ONLY way you're gonna be able to play Majora's Mask on vWii ATM is to install the WAD directly on the vWii's internal NAND (which I see no problem with) but for most other titles, yes, emuNAND is an option.

Hi I got the cIOS D2X v10 beta r52 installed aswell as the WiiFlow and USB Loader GX channel, but my VC wads, how do I choose to install them as emuNAND and not NAND?

Sorry for the nooby question :).

In USB Loader GX you go to options -> features -> install WAD to emuNAND (something like that. Can't remember the exact wording) and I know later versions of WiiFlow have a similar option in the settings (haven't used it personally, though) I would guess it would be under something like "manage emulated NAND" or browse and open the WAD files in the file browser in the home menu.

Other than that, on a PC you can use ShowMiiWADs to do a bulk install of WAD files to an emuNAND (as I think the method build into those backup loaders would be one-by-one)

Do I need to create a emuNAND or does it get created when I initially install a WAD to emuNAND?

For most games it would be best to have one already created.
Both WiiFlow and GX have an option to copy your existing real NAND into an emuNAND to get you started there or you could create a blank emuNAND with ModMii and put it in whatever folder the backup loader is set to look for it in.

EDIT : ok, forgot that we're talking about a Wii U here. ModMii creates a normal Wii NAND.

i would make one with modmii or copy one from an original wii. i dunno if many people have tried with a copy of vwii nand.

So I can´t create a emuNAND in ModMii?

Actually, now that you mention it, seems to me it MIGHT work. (I don't actually have a Wii U myself so haven't tried it and haven't specifically noticed reports from anyone else on the matter.). Just hitting the "extract" button on the backup loader seems the simplest to me but if there's some reason why you don't want to use a copy of your real NAND for this then you could always give ModMii a try first. The worst that could happen is it not working and you'd just have to delete the folder and do it again (nothing damaged either way)

If you're worried about wasting too much time and it not working, it might help just to install ONE game WAD onto your newly created emuNAND and test it out first. If one of those methods doesn't work then just try the other because I DO know that I've seen others mentioning having a working emuNAND on a Wii U.

i generally didnt wanna try out the emunand from a copy of vwii just because i was paranoid something could mess up (i no it should'nt). so i just used my one created from the original wii works fine from what ive tried. and ye im guessin modmii nand will work as well

I am seeking for creating a NAND backup in ModMii but I can´t find it, could you point me the right direction?

I found the section "Emulated NAND Builder (for SNEEK)", now what´s SNEEK? I couldn´t find a pure Emulated NAND Builder option, anyway if I choose that I got a option to install either UNEEK+DI, SNEEK+DI, UNEEK or SNEEK.

So I want with the option SNEEK, and then I choosed EU, version 4.3 etc. but then I was asked to put a Post Loader Forwarder Channel in my emuNAND, cIOS rev14, Priiloader and a bunch of other stuff.

Is that all safe? I mean if I install Priiloader on my vwiis nand I brick it so how will this go?

Emulated NAND is safer than anything, really. It keeps it from touching you real NAND so it can do no permanent damage even if you were to really mess something up (and that's also hard to do IMO)

SNEEK is something that even runs the system menu from off of the emuNAND ... BUT the version for Wii U hasn't been released (yet?) so it doesn't really apply to you. It uses the same kind of emuNAND as what you're looking for, though, so yes, that is the emuNAND builder part of ModMii we were referring to.

Okay, so what happens if I had choosen for example the black Wii skin when I created the emuNAND?

And is it possible to only run the WiiWare and VC on emuNAND and the rest on my real NAND?

Will try this out once I get home.

The part about the skin doesn't really matter as much since that would just effect the system menu and you would ONLY even run the system menu from your emuNAND if you were using SNEEK (and even if you were, it's a Wii system menu which I don't think is compatible with a Wii U) so the system menu's on there but is basically just ignored.

The way you're doing emuNAND would be running VC games through WiiFlow or emuNAND is basically just what you said. It only uses the emuNAND if you're running a game that's stored on it. Otherwise it will just use the real NAND. It also runs them directly so (come to think of it) it might not matter if the system menu's installed on your emuNAND at all (but even then, I'm sure that depends on which exact game you're playing. There might be exceptions.)

For Wii games, the backup loader will give you 3 options
- run the game with ONLY the real NAND for saves (this is the normal one)
- run the game using the emuNAND ONLY for the game save but the real NAND for everything else (system settings, things like that)
- run the game using ONLY the emuNAND (rarely any reason to use this setting)

Okay, I installed 3 WiiWare titles in ShowMiiWads and everything went smooth.

I put the emuNAND on my SDHC card and went to the Wii U.

In both WiiFlow and USB Loader GX I enabled emuNAND and pointed out the direction to the NAND and on both loaders the 3 WiiWare titles showed up.

But then the problem occured, when I try to launch any of them in WiiFlow I get a blackscreen and I need to pull the cord, in USB Loader GX basically the same thing happens with the exception of a error message "The system files are corrupted. Refer to the Wii Operations Manual for furter instructions." and I need to pull the cord there aswell.

So what did I do wrong :)?

A few things that come to mind:
- Make sure the channel NAND emulation is set to "full" in the settings (I think the setting starts this way, but you never know)
- What version of D2X do you have? v10 is better at emuNAND than v10-alt
- What titles were they? Some games are just not compatible. Could be bad luck that all 3 fall into that category.
- I know the SDHC card has to be FAT32 formatted (probably already is) and I'm not sure about this one but there's a possibility that it has a cluster size limit of either 64k or 32k so there MIGHT be a format problem on your SDHC card.
