Hello,
which 64Gb small USB stick should i buy (today still in stores) to use with my WII. They cost at least 50€ so i should get the right one.
Thx, Johan

Or is a USBkey where you can put in a Micro SD card a better solution?

Why not go for a small 2.5 inch HDD.
They offer far more storage space for the same price....

Anyway, I think you can get any 64GB drive.
These days it doesn't really matter much anymore.

If you get a 2.5 inch one wich is powered by 2 USB cables then you no longer have that issue ;]

Any 2.5 inch would do the trick.
You could optionally buy such cable.
I think it's a USB Y split cable or something.

The filesystem used is most likely the issue here.
It probably is formated as exFAT but loaders don't support it.
Instead you have to use FAT32 for best compability (or NTFS, WBFS or ext2 is thats not possible)
Problem is Windows itself does only offer FAT32 for 32GiB or less (for tactical reasons, NOT technical). But other tools can create larger ones perfectly fine
Look around gbatemp or the net in general is you need a tutorial. There should be plenty.

Still don't see it.
If you buy an USB HDD, i supose it comes with a cable to connect it to a USB port? What should be the extra of a cable that has 2 connections? Whre do you connect the 3rd connector to? sorry, but i don't get it.

If you connect the USB HDD to the WII with a single cable that comes with it, it gets power and data, no?

What's so hard to get about a USB cable that has 3 plugs.
One for power, one for data and one for the HDD itself.
Thought it was pretty obvious....

No it won't cause the USB in the Wii doesn't deliver the needed power to power a 2.5 inch HDD.
A 3.5 inch HDD has it's own dedicated power plug (one that plugs into your 220v grid)

Its not hard to get one, but i just don't understand the setup?
The WII console doesn't deliver enough poser to make a 2.5 USB HDD work? Where should i get the power from then?

A usb port should be able to deliver 500mA for bus powered devices. A Bus powered 2.5 inch harddisk usually needs more current, specially during it's spinup. For that reason, some come with an usb cable that has an extra usb plug with only the power signal lines connected. In case of the wii, you don't need that second plug. With the wiiu, you need to plug it in to another usb port so that you can use the 500mA of that port as well. 2 usb ports delivering 500mA combined can deliver 1000mA together (in theory)
