Hi guys
Sorry for the newbie question but just want confirmation before i order a gateway 3ds. My two kids have a 3ds each. One has software version 5.10-11e the other 4.5.0-10e. Am i right in assuming, that the one with software 4.5.0 is compatible with the gateway?

Eh, I might as well post my question here instead of making a whole new thread. It's still rather on topic, despite me not being a dad.

I've tried some searching, but wasn't able to find a straight, concrete answer.
Does the Gateway region unlock a 3DS? I have a Dutch/European 3DS XL with Firmware 4.2.X and I was wondering if I am able to play ROMs from the USA or Japan on it.

Great! Thanks! Now I can buy a Gateway without any worries. (I wanted to get a USA Professor Layton, because ugh Dutch voices)
Yes, I bought a 3DS XL and will buy a Gateway only for region unlocking...

Sorry, for the double post, but another question suddenly popped into my head, and heck, why not ask it here again?

What *class* Mico SD card is recommended? I can get a Class 6 or Class 10 pretty cheap, but is that good enough?
I read somewhere that a lower class is possibly better (despite what logic and instinct might tell you), because it strangely has higher read speeds?

EDIT: And oh, now this isn't a double post anymore. Thanks, kyogre123!

4,6,10 Class.
The difference btw them are read/write speed.
I think it doesn't matter which one u get, the old 3DS are packaged with Class 4 so the one u want to get 6 or 10 would be better.

Hm, are you sure? I can imagine that the SD card that comes with the 3DS itself doesn't really need a high class, but the Micro SD card in the Gateway might need it?

I've read about a few people running into crashes or read/load errors because the Micro SD card was too slow...

You could also play the UK version.
I bought several games from the UK eShop on my Belgian 3DS.

Class 4 is fine. Relatively speaking, many people have trouble with Kingston cards, so you may want to stay clear of that particular brand. Personally, I'm using SanDisk 8 GB Class 4 cards without any trouble.

Any class probably works (I have class 4 cards and they work just fine)

EDIT : I have a 8GB class 4 kingston card which is pretty old (I got it when I was using my DSTTi I think, so more than 3 years old, and it works fine with gateway)

You can buy UK games on a Dutch/Belgian 3DS? I didn't know that. Can you also play UK retail carts?
Well, in this case, it doesn't really matter... I already bought the Dutch version for support.

Yeah, I heard about the Kingston thing. So I already steered clear of that one. Good to know any class is pretty much fine.
Is anyone here familiar with the Transcend brand? Anyone have any problems with that?
EDIT: And what about Verbatim?

Aaaand more questions. Sorry, guys. But I thought I might as well ask all my questions now, now that I am on a roll.

If I order a Gateway 3DS, I don't need anything else besides a MicroSD card and a Micro SD reader, right?
I look at the firmware files for Gateway 3DS, and I see something about an R4i and Supercard DSTwo, and I also read something about a DSi... Can you guys confirm that I don't need either of those two flashcards nor a DSi?
