Would this be possible:

NAND dump a 3ds system with lots of downloaded games and content

System transfer to another 3DS

Restore NAND dump on original 3DS

Repeat

???

Profit!?

Or is there a reason this can't be done? Or is it just no work has been done in this direction?

The main reason it can't be done is because you omitted the second to last step.

It has been done. Someone got a 3DS with a ton of games and system transferred to a 3DS with a NAND dumper. He backed up the new NAND with the licenses for the games and then transferred the games back to the other 3DS. He then restored the NAND image to the 3DS and had the games on both 3DS'. The only issue is that if the 3DS that doesn't actually own the licenses to the games connects to the eShop the games will be gone.

This is the hard part of the process :( But with the NAND being emulated, could it be possible to lock the SD to be read only at the moment the system tries to delete the restored keys of the games? He also asked about retransferring the restored games to another console, which could also be possible with host console with a locked NAND (this is just merely guessing of course).

I have a feel someone from the N word is watching this thread

I wouldn't think that'd it delete the games but actually delete your licenses. Making the games disappear in the menu.

As soon as you connect to the internet poof!
Wouldn't they just poof back by reflashing the NAND to 4.5? No more new eshop games on the original system though (without starting over).

Can't wait to see how easy this process will be with GW 2.0 :P

That was what I meant for keys, those are stored on the NAND and the others are purchases registered on their global system. Locking the NAND while this process occurs at least would prevent these keys or registers from being deleted from the console.

But if the NAND is locked what point is there to go to the eShop? It wouldn't be able to edit the licenses or add new ones.

If only it could be a momentary lock and after the check, it would be unlocked again. I wonder if it would be possible to download a game without getting the key... anyway, I guess it could just give an error.
