Remember the FC30, this nice little Famicom styled gamepad released a couple of months ago? Well, I've just received an e-mail informing me that the FC30 firmware was upgraded and the controller can now be used as a Nintendo Wii gamepad ! Check out the video below:

They have even managed to emulate the hand gestures required for certain actions in games (as you can see in the video with NSMB Wii). Isn't that neat? Now you can enjoy the FC30 on your iOS devices, Android devices, computer, and even the Wii. What's next? Stay tuned to find out!

This would take the place of a classic controller, but without having to have a wiimote attached?

I'm not so sure. Can NSMB be played with a classic controller? The Wii may only recognize it as strictly a wiimote, and the extra buttons are being remapped as motion gestures.

Beyond that, the FC 30 only has one L and one R button, so it would still be missing 2 buttons for Classic Controller games if it's even being recognized as a wiimote with classic controller connected.

All of that aside, if this is possible, and given what has happened in regard to this thought with Devolution, would it be possible to somehow update a WiiU Pro controller to be used on a regular Wii as a Wii classic controller?

That is pretty awesome. I don't care much for the form factor of the NES/Famicom controllers, but this is the first Bluetooth controller I have seen that can emulate a Wiimote. The Wiimote is weird to hold sideways, so this would be better to use for games where that's required.

Nope, wiimote or wiimote+nunchuck are the only supported controls (unless someone hacked the game to add others, which I doubt)

Just a thing, the letter "A" is before "I" Which means that you should write Android before iOS, just saying ;)

Well, don't just say, cuz you're wrong. Lists don't have to be alphabetical, just sayin :P

If they can update this or make a more advanced controller that has a joystick and can play all wii games without a wiimote / nunchucks that would be great. Personally I think it will be easier to make a small little device that would allow me to connect a usb xbox 360 controller that emulates the wimmote nunchuck, just like dolphin does. FC30 team if you are listening, do it.

I was thinking that even better then making a device to use a usb xbox 360 as an emulated wiimote, a device that uses a gamecube controller to emulate a wiimote, that way people can play wii and gamecube games on the wii U using a gamecube controller.
