The video stops and starts so many times it can easily be faked. Not that Gateway is fake but that video is.

Maybe you'd like to watch a 10min video that over half of consists of waiting for screens to load and for updates to go through? Its obvious its a promotional video thats purposely sped up and cut so you don't have to stare at a loading screen.

Bah, Pokémon's future is moving more and more online with each generation. The single player campaign will always follow that tried-and-true formula, but online features are becoming very appealing lately. But I wonder if buying Pokémon X/Y from the eShop from the emuNAND will allow it to be played and taken online. The 3DS scene is really taking off thanks to Gateway. Glad I'm coming along for the ride!

instead of multi-rom support would making some sort of media manager be easier to make for now that way you could still bring all games on your sd card but just move them by copying from 1 folder to another replacing game from its booting location on sd then just restart the process to go in gateway mode again and boom the other games ready?

EDIT:ok i got it, its cause of the lack of info and librarys of 3ds homebrew

Does Anyone know if the Mint 3DS XL comes with 4.5 or lower fw? i wouldn't mind importing one.

To all those asking/wondering about running eShop 'backups' it would be very difficult because the eShop stuff is encrypted on your SD card. So the first thing they would have to figure out how to do is crack/strip the encryption so that you could then have a game file that could be installed to another 3DS. Once that is done getting it to run on an exploited system with kernel access would be the easy part....the problem is there is no financial incentive for anyone like Gateway to do this. They make their money by selling us their flash cart product so what good is it to give you free eShop content?

Also unless they do some type of check using the Gateway card as a dongle I am guessing the emuNand feature would/could work on anyone with a 4.5. Most likely though their patches are going to lock the cartridge slot for using only the Gateway card and not retail. So I guess if you had 4.5 and wanted newwer firmware for eShop and downloaded stuff it could be useful but lord if you are staying of 4.5 then why not take the leap and buy a Gateway?

3DS devs/hackers who know a lot more than we do have said this and that is it is going to take a hell of a long time to give you sandbox homebrew. There are no libraries and very little documented information. So anyone who knows a lot about low level programing can make a homebrew on the 3DS (like the gateway gui or some of the demos that have been shown) but their are currently no tools for the 'common' coder to create homebrew for 3DS. I keep saying this, and that is the 3DS is not going to be that great of a homebrew machine anyways. We might get emulation thru 16bit machines and maybe/unlikely ps1. Hell you can have that on a $70 PSP so why bother with a 3DS....also the 3DS is not going to make that great of a media player...the screen resolution and processing power are goign to make it no better than a PSP for video playback. So really why do you people that cry no homebrew really bother....your best hope is a cracked Vita which would make an awesome homebrew machine as it has much better screen resolution and a 4core processor and 4 core GPU. The 3DS is a good game machine and thats about it. Homebrew would be novel at best.

I have a lot of faith in the Gateway team to be able to do great things. So far they have blown away everyone's expectations. It's annoying to see all the whining about features that haven't been released yet, especially when you take into account the great progress made by Gateway thus far. Considering there hasn't been a huge breakthrough like with the Wii or the PSP, they are pretty much working with nothing and are the only team in the mix.

I am, however, curious about whether or not Gateway would prefer to hold off on breaking the whole system wide open with this exploit to protect their best interests. I mean, if they have the ability to run custom code and emulate the NAND from the SD, is the physical Gateway cartridge even required any more? I mean, they would risk making their own product worthless, which would get rid of any financial incentive they may have to continue with their excellent progress. I can definitely see why they would do this and I support them entirely - But what happens when/if smea releases his CFW? Will we see an arms race? Will the competition benefit the community or will Gateway give up?

By "eShop backups," would this mean a legitimately purchased full 3DS game from the eShop (e.g. Pokémon X/Y)? If so, then I don't think I understand how encryption would affect the emuNAND's ability to run that game, if the emuNAND is basically made to be the "console" that purchased that game, so it should theoretically run without issues.

Maybe there's something I'm missing, but I was under the impression of is that the emuNAND is a 3DS inside of your 3DS (so to speak), and if you wanna update your emuNAND to 6.3, then it should be possible to buy full games from the eShop and play them, as long as your emuNAND remains intact.

Agree.. otherwise what would be the point of having eshop access if we can't purchase and play those games?

Don't know why anyone would think it's fake. Even if there are cuts in it, Gateway have delivered everything they have shown in their videos. I don't know why you would think they would randomly start faking them.

Some people just want justification for their reasons why they don't want to get the gateway flashcart.

Well thats good news. Guess my sis will be able to play pokemon y, soon. Hope, there wont be any problems with local trading, between my original pokemon x on my 6.1 xl and the gateway version on my 4.5 one hehe. At least I dont see a reason, why it shouldnt work.

They are going to have to find a way to extract and/or decrypt the keys from the 4.1-4.5 firmwares. There just isn't any usable exploit in 5.0 and higher that will allow what is currently possible in the 4.1-4.5 firmwares.

For now. Someone will find a way.

While this is an amazing feature, I don't think it will work past 6.3...

All Nintendo has to do is to bring the Wii U firmware update method to the 3DS: Force a power cycle before starting the update.

Since it's Nintendo and considering how slow they are gateway users might still be safe for 1-2 firmware update.
