At the moment, no.

Nope, the entry point is still 4.1-4.5, just people on those versions will be able to have dual nands, an emulated one fully updated and their base one..

Will this new firmware need a new Gateway flashcart? In other words, would this firmware need new hardware from Gateway?

So with the emulated NAND, did the GATEWAY team run MH4 off the rom or the retail cart?

I believed that they run off the rom but after reading the post on page 9, I'm not sure anymore.

So how exactly does one go about finding a compatable 3DS nowadays, just go to walmart, ask for the one in the very back and hope its good? Want to get a black XL. Can the guts of a regular 3DS be swapped for an XL? What about system transfer? Will a higher fw transfered to a lower fw have high or low? Or is there a website you can shop for low fw 3DS? How about bundles? any guaranteed to come with low fw?

I'd say your only absolute guarantee would be to buy an animal crossing or pikachu edition. My black XL came with 5.1, so I wouldn't bet on that. Buying one any other way is going to be a gamble.

I went to my friendly local walmart about a month ago to see if they had 4.1-4.5 3DS XLs before their anniversary sale. I simply asked the lady, "Excuse me. Would you mind opening the case for a moment (the glass case that they lock their stuff in). I'm looking for a particular model". "Not a problem good sir". "I thank you for your assistance". Then from there I simply looked at the back of the box for the 2012 copyright and I was the happiest camper in all of the city. To my luck, the first one I checked was the copyright 2012, and I'm pretty sure almost all of the models there were 2012. Not sure about that, but have a pretty good feeling about it.

One thing to keep in mind was that this is the blue 3DS I was talking about. Not the black one. If you can find a mario kart 7 bundle, those should be 4.1-4.5, otherwise, try your luck with the blue or red ones. Look for copyright 2012 on the back.

Give up on Multi-rom support for 2.0, support was kind enough to give me a straight answer that it would be added to a later firmware when I asked them if it was coming in 2.0.

In that case how large of a SD card do I need to play the largest game out?
Are there many of these large games?
What size SD card should I be ordering for my extra games?
Is there any site that lists the size of the games?

Did Gateway staff state multi rom loading ability was actively being worked on? Would love for that to be accomplished by the end of the year. I'd imagine though Pokemon XY compatibility is their top priority.

I never doubted you for a second Gateway team, keep on rocking. :hrth:

I wonder what's Nintys countermeasure to this, or if they're just gonna go "fuck this lets sue them!"

speaking of X and Y being a work in progress: http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/pokemon-x-and-y-hit-four-million-sales-in-just-two-days/
don't feel bad about pirating it anymore xD

I bought a new Blue XL at Wal Mart on the anniversary sale for $149 and made sure it was 2012. It was in fact 4.4 fw. Works a charm. They are still out there...

It's good to see progress like the 2.0 update. It means they are still working and their focus is on the card. I'm very sure the issue of the 4.5 is on their agenda. But it's not like we didn't see it coming before Gateway was announced. 3dbrew.org gave a warning to not update past 4.5. But those (including myself) who did not listen and updated anyways is feeling pain for it, if of course you were wanting the Gateway.

But Gateway is doing amazing progress. Just keep running & just look ahead!
Hold on, hold fast, keep going and never back down!
