Okay so i just got my gateway, I also got another 3ds with 6.3 firmware to play pokemon on, I've heard that the the secondary cartidge is a clone r4, after i install the exploit on my 4.5 3ds can i use the kart on my 6.3 3ds as a r4 for nds games and such or will i still the the DSTwo (or whatever its called sorry) to do that?
Yep, if the blue cart works on 6.3 you can use it, it's just a Rev D R4, which supports 6.3 I believe.
In the worst case, you can order an actual R4 for about $20.

The issue is, we do not know for sure which R4 this is. The website says it has been tested to 6.1. You can try using the patches over at r4ids.cn, but that might brick it. It could be an R4 from r4ids.com, or any other site. They are all different. Can you boot into the blue card and take a few pictures of the home and the settings-->info/help/about screens? We can decided where to go from there.

The first 3 batches came with a R4 clone that works on 6.1. As for the newer ones that came with the redesigned Red card and paper packaging, I don't know.
Peel off most of the sticker on the red card, if it doesn't looks anything like this one in the picture below then it isn't form the first 3 batches.
alright then i suppose my cart is from one of of the first 3 sets? will that change things? i mean if it really is nesescary ill just pickup a DSTwo, but if i can use what i have now that would be great, maybe ill wait for gateways big announcement and see if that firmware includes a 6.3 update lol but i figured there may be some version of wood or maybe yasu that would run on it in 6.3 thanks for your help guys! good to be informed.
PCB will still be the same, the shell is not technically important to running the game.

Ill be intrested in? haha thats an understatement! im so pumped for this XD this solves all my quips about gateway except for the multi loader of course. ive got my 3ds XL on 4.5 so im not worried! nand emulation is so much more than i hoped for! i thought i was going to need to open up my ds XD now i dont have to

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better. -

I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
