If you have a regular 3ds I guess it dont matter, but if not I would get a 3ds/xl, the effect maybe be a bit gimmicky and youll prob(will) turn it off eventually, but its still a cool 3d effect.

If you're tight on money or if you're 4 years old get a 2DS. Otherwise, get a 3DS XL.

Ah...the inevitable what-should-I-buy thread. I don't know why it's so hard to make a simple decision.

Don't need 3D? Buy 2DS.
Need 3D? Buy 3DS or 3DS XL depending on amount of money in pocket.

Am I below the age of 7?
Am I on a tight budget?

If you answered yes to any of these, I'd say go with a 2DS.

Hmm, now I wonder if there will be a 2DS XL.
I think the 2DS looks like a nice cheap entry system for people who want to pay as little as possible and do not put a big emphasis on portability. Don't get me wrong, it is still on the same portability level as a tablet, but not on the same level as a mobile phone or (3)DS.
I personally won't buy one in the near future because I have a 3DS XL and simply love the big screens. But I like the case design of the 2DS (except the awkwardly positioned controls), and maybe after I had the chance of holding one I'll buy one if it gets cheaper or I have too much money laying around (same policy as with all the special 3DS (XL) editions I like).

well 3DS's ive seen sell new in the UK for £80
so a 2DS will hopefully fall lower than that
