A poll to find out how wiiflow users get around wiiflow, hopefully finding out how many use the source menu, if there's any call for a sourceflow, and particularly, an opportunity for users who don't use the source menu to share how they actually get around...

The conversation is already quite stimulating! Your discourse is cordially welcomed....

n.b. the sourceflow barrage will end shortly, and indefinitely. Thank you for your patience.
I really don't want to get involved but here's some things I would like to note. I see where going from page to page is a hassle and browsing covers would be slightly easier. but ...
how would selecting multiple sources be implemented?
who would create all these covers?
they would all be in alphabetical order and not the order you like.

just my thoughts.

The covers are no big deal, especially if something like smallbox homebrew grid view is used as detailed in my post here, but great point about multiple sources being selected, which I forgot to bring up in your thread spacepimp. This is a very important part of the Source Menu which cannot be overlooked for a possible alternative/replacement that your proposing. Perhaps a reply to his post in your thread would be more suitable Pimpin'.

I'll open that discussion on the "100% useless" thread :blink: , if that's ok with you fledge68, but I'm a little worried that 'you really don't want to get involved' !!
What the hell is that meant to mean?!?! Am I an ogre?

Couple of quick questions that seem relevant to add here -
last time I checked, Fledge didn't use the source menu - has that changed?
The ability to select multiple sources from the source menu is a relatively recent addition - see the recent controversy over using the " + " as a multi select button - this controversy will still hang over a sourceflow - do you really want that?
p.s. I have literally never used it

Edit: solved

you're welcome.

p.s. I'm really not that smug, I just couldn't resist:lol:

thanks to whoever's editing my multiple posts down - apologies for the irritation
p.s. i've updated the OP on 100% Useless Thread to an easily understood definition of 'sourceflow':)
see spoiler :
WHAT is a SOURCEFLOW?
Sourceflow:

A coverflow of covers that represent sources, rather than games.

The sourceflow is designed to be an alternative to the source menu.

The sourceflow is designed to be similar to the rest of wiiflow

The sourceflow will have 3D 'game' covers to represent sources.

The sourceflow will have 3D coverflows inside wiiflow's big 3D space.

In the beginning, the sourceflow will look very like the homebrewflow, and have covers that look very like the sourcemenu buttons.

The sourceflow will function very like the other game flows - users can delete and favourite covers - except:

The sourceflow will allow you to easily select and launch multiple sources, using an on-screen "multi-select" button.

The sourceflow may allow you to move your "source-covers" around to your liking, and order your consoles by category (handheld, 16 bit groups, age, manufacturer etc). Thanks fledge68

Shoes already made a source menu for D.O. for me back when I was converting some themes. o.O

Black and white, definately, I suppose christmas too. Too bad the original devs won't update it.
Yea I mean your already doing a lot so it's not a priority request or anything, I was actually just curious to know if u would be doing them at all. Yea I hope many themers return and update their original themes, if not well then you'll have to swoop in and save the day if u feel up to it ^_^

To all my spanish peeps r984 FTW. Until most bugs ironed out further of course.

here is a test dol of r984 patched for those of you having issues with force cios on/off and games not booting with certain themes

http://www.mediafire.com/download/81l64d603fd8ec5/boot.rar

it solved my wii game booting issues and now I can have force cios on all the time no matter what theme

Etheboss and mamule this

may not solve your problem because mine was a little different but its still worth a try

I might have time to update my source menu editor later today.
I seem to remember that there was a bug in it where it would sometimes create incomplete source_menu.ini entries that would make WiiFlow crash but I'm not near my Wii ATM to do any sort of testing.

Anyone present happen to remember what part of it was missing that created the crashes?

Wells from my experience what it would do is create a blank [Button_#] entries based on the amount that were left empty on the last page, hope that was clear, not sure if it sounds confusing. An example is I have 52 buttons for plugins but page 5 still has space up to [Button_59], the source menu editor would create blank entries for buttons 53 - 59, when scrolling through source menu pages in WiiFlow it would crash when you scroll through the page.

Okay, thanks. Good to know about that one, too, and I'll have to make sure it doesn't happen either.

I had also had a source menu that I had created that would make WiiFlow crash right on startup but I couldn't remember exactly what caused it. It was either missing or blank entries of some sort inside some [button_#] entries. I'll see if I can fix both bugs then ;)

If possible it would be awesome if the source menu editor could keep the buttons in numerical order, I noticed when using it the buttons would get out of order depending on what icons u moved around. No big deal if it's a pain in the arse, just wanted to mention in case it was an easy fix. Thanks for working on this Maxternal.

Once you get it figured out, it'd be awesome if you could manage to port it to wii.

Java for wii? WiiJava!

FYI, When Fledge asked about reordering sources in the sourceflow - specifically like you can with maxternal's app (Hi5!) - I remembered that Wiiflow used to be able to arrange games around the coverflow to the users liking - literally by picking them up and dropping them! - so it may be that the sourceflow might add this capability for sources directly within wiiflow. Does anyone know where the relevant code might exist?

spacepimp i'm not sure if you're confusing a feature that WiiFlow has that allows u to grab and scroll through the covers using A+B button combo. AFAIK i cant remeber any feature that lets u drag covers around and drop em where u want and I go way back to WiiFlow r304 222/249 days.
