you are waiting for a response from 1 person who has a day job. its annoying, i'll admit, but there is nothing to be done about it. the k1 venture is just a side project for everyone involved.

Oh i see, thought this was the guy's job. I see why it would take a while then.

Just been looking round the web and it seems the bag log for K101's is pretty bad some people are still waiting from the first batch. Maybe they should stop taking orders and peoples money untill they can catch up.

That would make more sense form a business standpoint, it's not at all efficient to purposely overload yourself. They should have just stopped taking pre orders until they could get it all together.

Ok, finally got a response to my refund after a coupe of days. He said he would cancel my pre order and the money would be returned in a few days. That took a while but let me know if you guys get yours, keep using the thread for updates about the handheld.....we should really have a Revo K101 general sticky.

what they should have done was waited to announce the device after they had a large batch of fully working/tested units built. i understand that they needed to know the interest of the device before they invested more money, and while that's a safe route to travel it ended up biting them in the ass. they took pre-orders while the system was still actively being developed. when it came time to ship the first batch, to customers who were already waiting 3 months, they were not fully tested. i'm sure they were turned on/turned off, but they didn't know about the charger issues (discussed in the review). their solution? -- open the device and clean off the extra flux. after the community started to game, the reports came in about missing save files. it took the community to discover what was causing it and then to make suggestions on how to fix it -- a fix that hasn't come yet.

i agree with what you are saying. the pre-order page should read "out of stock" and they should hire someone to fix the save issue. flash all the new systems with the firmware update, fully test them for any issues, and then get them sent out as soon as possible. the longer they wait the more they are sliding downhill in the eyes of the consumer. eventually its going to be one of those conversations where we say "remember the k101 revo, that thing had potential, its to bad they screwed up the marketing plan".

Agreed the device itself sounds amazing apart from the few easily fixed niggles but let down by poor customer service and a bad business plan. I'm sure the guys behind it are great guys but something like this can ruin your reputation and can damage the possibilty of future products.

My Revo K101 has been collecting dust for awhile now, and here are three main reasons why:

  1. There is an air bubble on the screen. I can fix the air bubble by using scotch tape to gently pull up the plastic overlay, but then a couple days later the air bubble would be back. There is a flaw in the way the screen is assembled, and it is definitely inferior to the Dingoo's design (the screen quality itself is better than the Dingoo's, but the Dingoo's screen is assembled better, with a hard plastic cover flush with the face of the device).
  2. The save files don't work, or they are unreliable at best. You basically lose your progress every time you turn off the device. This is unacceptable.
  3. The games compatibility is not 100%, and in fact it can even be worse than VisualBoyAdvance. It's hard to believe that a hardware clone could be less accurate than a software emulator, but I have already encountered two such cases: (1) many of the horizontal borders in Advance Wars are broken, but they show up fine on the Dingoo (see pic below), and (2) King of Fighters EX - Neo Blood doesn't work properly, but it works fine when emulated in VisualBoyAdvance. Who knows how many other games suffer from similar glitches.
Advance Wars (top is Dingoo, bottom is K101 -- notice the broken border?)

I hope future firmware updates will at least fix the last two issues, but with the lack of response so far I'm not holding my breath. At the moment, I would not recommend anyone buy the Revo K101; instead, go find a cheap DS or DS Lite (not DSi or 3DS) on eBay along with a flash card + ezflash expansion:

You'll spend not much more than $60, but you'll get true 100% compatibility with the added bonus of being able to play DS games also. The DS would also give you a better gaming experience because the picture is larger without scaling (the high density of the K101 display actually works against it because when you play in 240x160 mode the picture is tiny, and when you use 3:2 mode to get a larger picture, the picture becomes too "soft" for my liking because of the poor scaling algorithm).

20th, March 2013- The latest news for Revo K101:
Good News! The third batch Revo K101 had been well restocked! We will arrange to send out those orders placed earlier. For compensation, we will send you the 8GB instead of 4GB memory card for each order. This is our gesture to apologize for this long time waiting!

Ruilong what happen to the new firmware of the revo k101? Why arent you announced it or upload it on the k1 team webpage? Its a shame that you dont care to our old customers,we are waiting for 3 months for the fix saving issue on the revo k101....I dont recommend to anyone to buy this device until you fix the problems of the revo k101.

Now the factory is busy on producing the devices to let us send out all the orders placed earlier.

Next steps for them is to update the firmware.

Thank you for your understanding.

How's your experience with it? Mind sharing us your experience with that system? Have you experienced the save issue yourself? How's the console itself?

Today is the 14th business day since I ordered mine... Hopefully it's here by Monday.

Nevermind. It was waiting for me at home when I got there. It's charging now. :)

Yes i tested savegame issue by creating save in one game after which i turn off console by longpressing power button, turn on again, load, play, turn off and repeated this. And at one point savegame just dissapeared. So i googled and found solution.

savegame problem can be solved by pressing (*+START) and then press (*+L) to access ingame menu, and then select "return to the file list" and press (A) only after doing this you can shut down your Revo by long press power button without losing save games, do this every time before turning it off.
(* button is small black button on top of console which controlls brightness of screen)

I also tested this and it works, my savegames are safely saved on SD card. It is really no big deal for me i can live with this but looks like this guys are back in business and hopefully they will make update for this.
Console itself is suprisingly light, buttons are nice, build quality is superb, screen is awesome, colorful, bright and it looks lot better in person then on youtube videos, console is kinda bigger the i expected it to be which is good cause i have long fingers. Buttons are nice but i noticed D pad is kinda hard to press or maybe my fingers are just being spoiled with soft gamepad i'm using for years on PC. I downloaded 206 GBA games. I didn't tested all of them but you can immediately tell this console has no problem running them in high res, high framerate. They shipped it with alot of accessories: wall usb charger (5V, 500mA), AV cable so you can connect it to TV and play on big screen, i tested this also and it works, K card (card that looks like cartridge for GBA only without label, it has SD card slot, you put ROMS on SD card, put SD card in K card, put K card in Revo and thats how u play ROMS), 8 GB SDHC card wihich is surprise because they say they are shipping it with 4 GB SDHC card, SD card to USB adapter so you can copy ROMS on your SD card, in ear earphones which looks very nice (mine are red) unfortunatley they sound bad, strap line just like one for cellphones and soft furry carying case which is somewhat larger then console so you can put accessories inside alongside console. Battery life is around 4-5 hours depending on screen brightness (which is nicely bright even on lowest setting) and sound volume. Charging time with this 500 mA charger they provided is 3 hours. I am DIY kind of guy and i am planning to mod it to run on 3 AA batteries in near future. They didn't provided me a tracking number for shipment but delivery time was suprisingly fast (12 days) Same day it arrived i ordered another one :yaysp:

Hmm sounds really really nice, when you do play most of your 206 games, could you share with us if there are any framerate issues or other problems?
If you can, could you test out Pokemon Emerald, and Mother 3 for me? And tell me how it goes, in terms of framerate and other stuff.

played pokemon emerald for 1 hour and 20 mins. made my way to petalburg city, everything looks perfectly fine.
played mother 3 short for 15 mins cause i dont wanna spoil it, also everything looks perfectly fine
