Has anybody ever used one they can vouch for? I've seen a few different ones online, but due to some past experience I'm iffy on blindly trying them out. Would love to go back to the Dreamcast-styled controller for some games.
I most certainly have and tomorrow I'll upload some pictures showing my Trio Linker II adapter in action using nullDC just know that sadly there is no Dreamcast controller adapter that supports any kind-of rumble functionality wat-so-ever.
I was skeptical myself too but the only two adapters i found that seemed to hold any ground as far as supporting Dreamcast controllers on a (Windows OS) PC was the Trio Linker and its sequel? the Trio Linker II.
And oh yes i dont regret my purchase one bit but considering ive hardly used mine thus far due to me waiting for my APU to get here so i can build myself the best damn APU system money can buy, i can't vouch for its quality / last-ability quite yet.
Its cool to see somebody else on the planet earth who's interested in using one on the PC though as I was bc playing Dreamcast games in full 1080p just isnt the same without the stock controller, ya know?

There's no reason why your average adapter shouldn't work - I've seen plenty of'em around. I don't quite know why you'd want that, seeing that the Dreamcast controller is one of the worst controllers of all time but hey!
I'm not going to bother defending the Dreamcast controller (the face buttons are just a liiiitle too far apart for comfort) but if this thread creator is anything like myself then he/she may want to play Dreamcast games with an actual stock Dreamcast controller for the sake of authenticity & because we've got the money to spend / im curious as to what certain controllers feel like.
Sure some people are fine using their Xbox 360 controllers because why branch out when you already possess such a fine controller but authenticity and the less practical, perhaps over-used word of the past 5 years (in the gaming community specifically): nostalgia would likely drive someone to use a Dreamcast controller on their PC.
While true lets not forget that we're talking about about the most potential ridden gaming platform in existence, the PC; meaning there are potentially numerous programs out there, one of which I can confirm works just dandy which the adapter/controller combo I mentioned which allows my Dreamcast controller to control my keyboard about as effectively as it can get.
I'm well-aware of that, I just think the controller is awkward.
Back in the day I was considering getting an adapter for my Dreamcast to use other controllers, never the other way around.
Well I trust you've had plenty of time to mess around with / form a solid opinion on the DC controller back when Dreamcast once had its advantages over your common computer; and continues to be a nice hub for hombrew and the like especially when compared to any and all consoles after it.

For certain games, I actually preferred the dreamcast controller. Though yeah, mostly for that authentic feel. I'll check Trio Linker, Trio Linker Plus II claims to have force feedback. I think that was the one I was looking at actually when I googled. Uses PS2 and Gamecube and the likes. If it uses direct input I might be able to hopefully get it to pick up as Xinput down the road. I don't have a lot of experience yet but I've been scratching the surface of that. Thanks everyone.
And it absolutely does... for PS2 and Gamecube controllers. You'll notice that nowhere does it specify which controllers support that wonderful force-feedback feature and i can confirm that both PS1 dualshocks and the Gamecube controller (good lord don't use this adapter for Gamecube controllers it has several issues with the analog sticks so instead I recommend you use mayflashes most up-to-date Gamecube adapter for oodles of reasons) I tried support rumble but I had trouble with the PS2 controller as it wasn't recognized unless I plugged it into the adapter before plugging in the adapter itself; but then again is that really an issue?
But my Dreamcast controller works as you'd expect (the analoge sticks can be calibrated supremely well just using Windows built-in "game controller properties" menu) and while its true that the rumble pack in my Dreamcast controller is Mad Catz brand and even has an LED to boot (two aspects of my rumble pack which could also be reasons for the force-feedback not working), there's also this:

I'll try and make it so. I have a Mayfire adapter for wii ultra pro, and a bluetooth dongle coming in. If I"m not broke at the end of the month I'll order this one and see what I can pull off. I'm a newbie at it, but I feel like I'm making decent progress on it looking at other's source code and working on my own projects. I just want to use my sexy green baby
I used a 360 controller as a replacement for my DC one when playing the PC version of PSO, if that works better?

I would hope that DaggerV is well aware that using a 360 controller would be the all-around better controller to use for countless reasons buuuuut for the sake of authenticity / general feel I would say to stick with that green DC controller.
Here are some images of the DC port itself showing that not only do you have to flip the male DC controller port upside down but it doesn't go in to the female end completely BUT god damn is it a tight fit so really this is not an issue in my eyes.

I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
