I don't own a flashcart and my Wii U is untouched but I did hack my Wii simply to play my old games on the system. That's why I STILL wait for Wii64 to be released (in vain i suppose) since I want to play Castlevania for the N64. Sure, i could get my old N64 our and play it there, i own it, but my TV space is already crammed. Yes, I can play it on my PC but its not the same. I woudl gladly give Nintendo and Konami (who own the rigths and already released castlevania games on wii btw so no issue there) my ten bucks but they are TOO LAZY to make Controler pack plugins work on their emulator (and the games use that for saving) so no dice...

Emukidid has told me that he hasn't given up on Wii 64, but who knows why he can't update his blog just to give reassurance to those who are waiting, but even asking him if/when he's going to update the blog is like having a hit man go after you. He's quite volatile and defensive about it. So, I guess all we can do is wait. But yeah, I hacked my Wii because Nintendo never released the games we wanted at first, but they eventually released most of them....near the end of the console's life cycle. By then, many people already hacked their console. Hackers do what Nintendon't.

What a lot of people don't realize is that most of them are NOT "Nintendo's games".

Final Fantasy VI, Secret Of Mana, Earthworm Jim, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Gradius, Contra, Mega Man, Donkey Kong Country, etc...

They're just licensed/published by Nintendo. The game itself is still owned by the company that created it, and some of these companies actually got bought by competing ones (Microsoft in particular).

I'm preatty sure Nintendo still owns all the rights to DKC, but otherwise Rydian has a good point.

And there is no reason Nintendo shouldn't be mad at Ouya. Having emulation is one thing, but actively promoting it in a mainstream product is another thing.

Nah, Donkey Kong Country is 100% Nintendo, Rare doesn't have the rights for it.
I was wondering if the abstention of the Kremlings on recent games (gamecube ones included) has something to do with legal/rights questions..

Actually, I think its a overall change made by the dev director, Miyamoto included, in the days of the Jungle Beat game ...and it was transferred over to recent games.. ..at least that's what the infos that I read about the DK game's developing process seems to indicate

I can't...I won't refute that. Plain and simple, many games have licensing issues that haven't been resolved.

Yeah that's pushing it a bit too far into the Dark Side.

They're present in Mario Sluggers. If anything, it's Miyamoto who wants to keep things fresh by making new enemies. And let's be honest, K. Rool got defeated really bad in DK64.

They also own the assets in Star Fox Adventures, but that's another story. Nintendo owns the rights to the Donkey Kong series, why they pulled them from the VC is beyond me. Oh well, I still have them on my SD card with RetroArch Wii

Call me self-entitled all you want, but no one, not even Nintendo, is going to stop me from playing said games.

yup ..that's more or less what I think too ...and I updated my previous post saying that almost the same time you replied :p
