I'd only get a Go as a secondary system though, as the lack of Pandora would kill off a lot of experimenting and recovery junk.
To be fair, the built-in memory is quite a big "plus" of the system. Seeing that the 32GB MSPD is the biggest (and rarest) flavour and to get more, one has to resort to adapters, some built-in memory is actually a good deal for those who like to carry around loads of content. Adding to that, the system is also more "portable" than other members of its family, however the comfort of using it is very subjective - it's something you can either love or hate depending on the size of your hands. :P

Yes of course I'm talking about my 2-psp scenario.

One for tinkering and one for playing with optimal screen, weight, grip, battery life, etc.

Some people "want it all" in one single psp and so they feel the best option is a fully hackable early 2000 or worse a 1000.

What I feel: just own (at least) 2 PSPs. They don't cost 399$. No reason in this day and age to play with ghosting just for the sake of "having it all" (pandora, perma-hack, etc.) in one psp.

I've been using the Street for a while now, a couple of additional considerations:

1) the vertical shift is not THAT bad in everyday use...or, better, it's very bad but you get used to keeping the system at the right angle and in the end I personally can live with it...and in turn enjoy the only regular-size regular-shape (i.e., not a Go) PSP without neither ghosting nor interlacing.

2) I HATE the PS/Volume/Start/Select strip buttons. They're a PAIN to use. A real PAIN. Super-annoying in the dark. That's really the single most annoying feature in an handheld ever. (I don't own a regular 3DS but as I understand it has similar STUPID Start/Home/Select flat buttons, luckily corrected on the XL)

Hello maybe I will buy this model
http://www.amazon.fr/Console-PSP-St..._1?ie=UTF8&qid=1372118682&sr=8-1&keywords=psp

My intention is only for multimedia ike videos, movies and emulators.
By the way I have a problem, all my friends have only DSi and 3DS, so they also dont know about PSP.

Is it good this model to run all emulators??

I will play psx,neo geo, snes, nes, gb, gba, gbc master system, etc..

I dont will play PSP games because I dont like it, I will only buy it for emulators.

Does it runs all emulators great????

  • Cheap piece of crap, avoid. Not only is it gimped even compared to the old 1000 model, but it's not built up to the same standards as the other models.

I'm thinking about getting a PSP for mostly emulation purposes. I mainly want to play GBA and PS1 games on on it. From what I'm reading I think it's going to be between the 3000 and the Go but I'm not entirely sure. One thing that is important for me is composite video out (for the PS1 games). Also it would be nice for it to be compatible with PS2/PS3 controller (if that's even possible), but necessary. Portability doesn't matter to me. Thanks!

The PSP doesn't do fullscreen video out. There is a plugin to make it, but it only works on some CFW models, and even when it works it's kind of ugly and causes slowdown in my experience (since it's not a ntively-supported mode). PS2 controller is a no-go, PS3 is through bluetooth which only the Go has, and you may need to use the PS3 to pair it, don't know if that's changed.

Ah yeah, just read about that. It's no biggie though. I think I will get the Go unless the 2000 and 3000 has some sort of advantage for emulation that I'm unaware of. Thanks for the reply.

I Would hack my PSP 3000 but i kinda broke it i think like 2 years ago. I was charging in via usb on my cable box for like a week (wasnt in the mood to play it) and then it just wouldnt turn on. Its probably the battery but idk. Could be something internal. I got it as the Rachet and Clank Bundle.

Did you ever try if it works with another battery? Maybe it is something easily fixable.

Im too lazy to buy a battery and put it in :P, Besides, its somewhere in the clutter i call my room so thats also a journey in itself just to find the damn thing. Oh and IIRC it has a scratch on the screen from when i dropped it on the floor. Its only a tiny scratch and cosmetic but still isnt pleasant to look at :P.

Yeah I can understand that lost in a cluttered room thing better then I like. Also I was more thinking about trying a battery lent from someone, not buying a new one for that. But if you did not use your PSP for years you'll probably have not much desire to use it again now.

Well i don't really know anyone with a psp let alone a psp battery. Also, i've heard it emulates pretty well so i would be interested in that.

Yeah ok good point, I haven't though of emulation as I usually use other devices for this.
Then you could try to go to a store with you PSP and ask if they could test if it works with another battery. I think there should be a better chance of success with a store that sells used stuff with that. At least that is the only other option that comes to my mind where you don't have to spend money to try to find out if you PSP still works. Another cheap option would be to ask around here if someone who knows his stuff lives close to you or if you can sent someone your PSP to try it out. I'd help you but I live in Germany, the shipping would be a bit expensive.
Of course you could always sent it to Sony, but I have no idea what prices they charge for fixing a PSP.
