You say that and I do not doubt issues would be faced but the... interesting attitude to region locking exhibited by a lot of the devs in Japan is potentially a bit damaging to the land of milk and honey image you try to cast there.

Are you referring the P4 Arena fiasco, because that was because of the threat of reverse importing. Also, that sounds like the views of many visual novel developers, with some interesting and unfortunate results.

That's because Atlus/Index are a despicable and highly questionable set of people.

Though that might be an issue (and my distaste for region locking in general comes up there) this was more with the shmups and some aspects of the visual novels.

I don't think they are the only Japanese gaming company that's like this, I've always had this suspicion that Idea Factory is doing the same stuff.
