i dont know if this has been talked about already (didnt notice anything?)

But my question is about getting the pro controller working under the vWii....

Now i noticed a video on youtube of someone trying to pair his controller with the wii (i think) and whilst the controller flashes, the wii for a very brief moment detects it and then it disappears...

I've not done any modifications or anything before so i don't know how possible the idea is, but if nintendo says its an enhanced classic controller, that video showing a slight possibilty of hope and the work thats been done to get the pro controller working on the pc, would it not be possible for system file change to add in the pro controller or to accept the connection and just remap it to the classic controller?

I think it's using bluetooth for it's buttons and controls, and a special 5gig wifi link to stream the video from the wiiu to the gamepad. The video chip in the wiiu has a dual output (like some pc's have the option to connect 2 monitors to the same video adapter) One of those outputs just streams it's video wirelessly to the gamepad display. In wii compatibility mode, Ninty likely disabled that output and might even have made it unaccessable. The pc development might help for better understanding how things work.

He doesn't mean the WiiU GamePad, this has no screen etc....

I'm curious if anyone is working on a lib for this and how you would go about writing the lib in the first place.
I would love an answer to either of those 2 questions if anyone could be so kind :)
More specific, how would the syncing be done from a homebrew point of view because I can't think of ANY Wii code that EVER emerged that synced Wiimotes

For vWii related things like emulators or homebrew games etc it could be great for some things.

To get the pro controller working, you would have to write a driver for a bluetooth interface device that I guess would clone the functionality of the classic controller. From there you would either include it in the homebrew (like devolution) or as a possible firmware hack. This is the initial approach that I would take based on the information that I have (while leaning toward a firmware hack as the final product if at all possible, safe and stable).

The syncing of them is what I'm asking about, if you know.

On the Wii for example ALL homebrew relies on a WiiMote being in sync before it can be used, no homebrew allows you to sync a WiiMote.

The gamepad cannot be synced to a Wii using Nintendo software as of yet.

Afaik, this is how it works...
To sync the device we press a sync button, it sends a signal to the console
The console receives that signal and gets an ID and writes this to the sys conf file and assigns a channel
From then on if a controller is asleep and you press a button it sends the signal, reads the file and stays synced and awake.

The gamepad must work like this too, can we get the ID and write to the sys conf file ? OBCD...come back I need you :P

So ? ?

- Get the ID (how), write to sys conf ??? is it this simple ?
- WPAD_Init(); ???
- then all the WPAD_BUTTON_A etc just works as expected ???
- lol, I know there is no function for either analogue to click, the ZR & ZL etc

Step 1 imho is knowing how to get it to sync to either a Wii or vWii... I might do some reading on this one day.

If you really want the controller to work in virtual wii mode just get the 3 in 1 pro controller for wiiu it's way better than the regular pro controller you can get it at Walmart & target.

Did you mean one of these...

If you did then think again, as this only replicates 3... Wiimote, Classic Controller and Pro Controller (a CC in an alternate case), NOT ProU Controller (that works with WiiU games, I can give examples see below)...

Assassin's Creed III, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge, Darksiders II will not work with this... there are other games.

There are NO controllers on the market that do what we are talking about here, which is to get WiiU Pro Controllers working with homebrew (things I was saying) and integrated (hacked) into official software.

The controller you suggest can't work in WiiU games without some hacking etc too, so it's easier and better for us to look at the official Nintendo pad many people will have and the easiest way for us to get it working not only on WiiU (as it does, your idea doesn't) but also on Wii/vWii.

Your suggestion is for people to get a less popular pad that doesn't work with WiiU and then perhaps code and hack and pray to get it working on a WiiU.

This controller does NOT function as the Pro Controller for Wii U games, it will ONLY work for games that support the Wiimote or the Wii Classic Controller.

It's a shame that all of this will never replicate a GC controller too (the long analogue shoulder triggers etc) as it would be good for and GC related things on a WiiU....

It does work as a pro controller there's a reason that they call it a 3in1 controller not the 2 in 1 controller the reason that they have pro controller image is because it is a pro controller with added functionality it works in every WiiU game I have even in every retail/virtual console game for Wii & WiiU I bought but it will be intresting to see how this turns out because as much as I love unofficail emulators I love roms both current & past so it be real treat. To get it to work in vwii mode you have reset it & pair it with VWii mode the same goes for WiiU mode.

To be crystal clear.

A WiiU Pro controller that works in WiiU games EG...Assassin's Creed III, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge, Darksiders II will not work with this... there are other games.

A WiiU Pro controller has NEVER been combined with any other controller and released...EVER...(yet)

Every single one that claims to be 3 in 1 is false advertising, read the hundreds and hundreds of customers reviews of EVERY single one.

Parasite X, please stop posting this misinformation and encouraging stupid people to send money to these companies under a cloud of lies. I'm not saying they are bad controllers, they are great for a Wii, vWii or any game on WiiU that you can use a Wii controller for, but 100% useless for WiiU games that require the WiiU Pro controller.

I'm sure the purpose of this topic is to discuss the WiiU Pro controller and not a Wii controller.

Parasite X you are wrong, please stop arguing in the topic, read what is being said.

This topic could have started to gather information and ideas for something interesting, but as usual time is wasted and nothing will be learned except that you can get a great controller that has nothing to do with this topic.

Wonder if Ray will like my post....

I can't convaincre that counts but we each have opinions about The controller but met me ask you this when I used it to play News Super Mario Bros U why did it register it as a Wii U pro controller it even registerd it as a pro controller in Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed so do you explain that there are lots of unofficial controllers you'll never know unless you own the controller.

i have looked at that controller and do like the retro styling and granted it is an option but as mentioned it is not a proU contoller, they arent lying about 3 in 1 as it is a wiimote, classic controller and pro controller (not pro u) and the reason it works on the wiiU is because most games support atleast the wiimote

the problem with that i think is that we would need the wiiU hacked to then emulate the classic to be a proU, maybe it would be easier due to it already working, who knows

now the proU on the wii would take some work i think it would be a firmware hack, and whilst i know nothing about any of this, if wii is very briefly seeing the controller, could something be written just to log the signals coming to the wii (which im assuming is what happens for the pc hack ?) and look at there

id imagine nothing has been done before on the wii because it already had a range of controllers and the xbox and think ps3 are both wifi controllers and not bluetooth like the wii
