It's called a Link to The Past 2.... I couldn't imagine them NOT having the dark world in there. Though, as xwatchmanx points out, it's reverted to the Golden Land if it's pitched directly after LTTP. And if it's pitched before LTTP.... then it wouldn't make much sense for Link to know about it bofore the original game.

It's not called a Link to the Past 2. That's just the unofficial name fans have given it. All Nintendo has stated is that it takes place in aLttP's world, after the events of aLttP. The trailers doesn't even show a title, they just say "The Legend of Zelda."

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the Japanese version has been referred to by Nintendo as A Link to The Past 2? Hopefully somebody can help me out here?

And if it's taking place after LTTP then the dark world has to become the Golden Land... else it gets overrun again which would be a pretty weak story!

Nope. They've stated that it "takes place in the same world as A Link to the Past," and that "it takes place after a Link to the Past," but never did they call it "A Link to the Past 2" by name.

And even if they did, it would almost certainly have been a working title. Of course, there's only one name that's awesome enough for this sequel, wait for it...

There's no way they can recycle Ganon or that'd just throw off the whole storyline.
They can't do anything with the four sword storyline, that's in a different timeline.
They could possibly begin an entirely new storyline with a new antagonist and continue the games from this setting, but its all about how they execute it.

See, I'm confused as to how they'll pull the game off. It has a weird place in the timeline, it's gonna take some serious thought to pull this game off. Boggles my mind atm
Alttp is the start of the downfall timeline, and the oracle games come right after that, followed by awakening, Zelda and Zelda II. So to put something in the same world right after would either mean sticking it in between ALTTP and oracle games, or possibly put it after Zelda II.
I guess they could stick it somewhere in between some games but again, it'd be weird...
