Id like to enter, you did my 360 from bitgamer so I know you are extremely reliable! My model is a 160gb phat CECHP01 and i am on the newest firmware right now. I had it hacked at one point and stupidly upgraded!

The E3 flasher (I have the Limited one with the CLIP. Handy!) is a piece of cake if you know what you're doing with electronics :P Good luck with this, Devin.

I got the standard NOR version since it would have cost the Chinese website a bit of money to ship the Limited version. Should get it in the mail soon.

Duh. I hope you have an eSATA docking station somewhere, otherwise you won't even be able to start your PS3 up! :P (actually I dunno if you can dump the PS3's NOR without an HD in it? IIRC the PS3 just doesn't start)

You gave me a mini heart attack there. It wouldn't make much sense to sell a bundle without a needed part, but reading up on the internet I don't need one for the main part. For all the parts that say boot to XMB, I just need to get to the "HDD not found" screen. Once it's flashed, I can then throw the HDD in there and install CFW.

EDIT: Shoot, here. I found this picture.

I think the eSATA docking station is mainly for people wanting to dual boot.

You can actually downgrade, because NOR alone with it's 16MB loads the critical parts so PS3 can boot at that HDD not found screen you say. Remember that you must enable QA flags on the PS3 downgraded (it's a 4.x patched onto 3.55 actually, so it's risky to leave the OS on a pseudo 3.55 patched FW)---

I would reinstall 3.55OFW (once QA flag enabled, then any other 3.55CFW, so syscon rehashes a new and valid *actual firmware*) ...

And the flash fun mode doesn't require a HDD at all, because the PS3 is stuck so even NOR is not used, but ready to work with.

If you ever get a yellow led of death, then it's either a corrupted chip backup (corrupted file system table), or a syscon hash mismatch between the NOR <-> syscon top and current firmware. So as long as you retrieve the PS3 keys, you're saved for now

I'd say it's designed so you can work with both the PS3 HDD and the E3 installed (besides the dual boot utility), because the E3 uses the HDD SATA bay physically.
Like, if you screw it up, you could just flash a different firmware to NOR, and prepare the HDD on the fly.

I never used it for dual booting  I used it to get to the XMB to dump the FW. I guess you can also dump it from the "HDD not found" screen then... Nice to know.

Hey Devin, after you review the product are you going to offer a downgrading service? Just wondering thanks.

Probably not, don't really have the time to do a ton of PS3s. I might do some kind of payment thing on some other forums for it. That was I don't get flooded, and I will get more money to put into my trip I plan on having this summer. We'll see.

Congrats to slyr1143. Who shall be getting his PS3 downgraded for free. I'll send you a PM later today, or you can send me one.

the only one I have that could use some help in getting to work or at least TO CFW now is a CECHB. I really hate how the people that make these devices give no love whatsoever to the NAND ps3 users. :nayps3:

Didn't ProgSkeet make a "solderless" NAND PS3 downgrader a while ago?
