What do you get when you crush Zoids, Monster Hunter, and Ronin Warriors together?
Well, see for yourself.

Capcom has announced a new children-centric IP – specifically targeting “elementary school age boys” – known as Gaist Crusher. The game component of the franchise will be made for the 3DS and will be released in Japan this winter.

Gaist Crushers is described as an action game – you can see how it plays out in the trailer above. Capcom plans to take advantage of its “expertise in producing content for children” and “high-grade multiplayer capability” in creating the project.

Beyond games, Capcom has plans to expand Gaist Crushers through manga, anime, music and toys. Saikyo Jump and V Jump will handle the manga, Pierrot Co., Ltd. will produce the anime, Pierrot Co., Ltd. will be in charge of music, and Bandai Co., Ltd. will be responsible for toys. The company calls this “an expansive cross-media project.”

Looks like Monster Hunter for Kids. Actually, I'm pretty sure they're trying to cater kids into the monster-hunting genre (which would then pass to the MH series when they grow up, clever).

Reminds me of Magic and the Duel Masters trading card game. Except that Duel Masters is a flop because kids played Yu-Gi-Oh instead.

Monster hunter for kids.... actually that could work and might even serve to make the monster hunter games something other than a crushing bore. It runs the risk of doing to the concept what pokemon does to the "genres" it is the feeder for but that is a different matter.

If they want to make Monster Hunter for kids, why not just call it Monster Punter?

Come on, Capcom, you're squandering opportunities here!

Looks like it runs on the MML3 engine, and the brawling gameplay looks a lot like Barrett's gameplay in the Prototype
Seems kind of cool, with an art direction similar to Star Force, even if the generic shonen style feels kind of forced
