From what I hear, the Wii U online structure is designed loads better than the one on the original Wii, so hopefully it'll be no problem.

I really can't wait for Super Smash Bros. 4, though! Assuming the online works well, it'll be the first console game that I seriously spend a lot of time playing online.

Though I really count on something small that was within the GameCube Wind Waker. You know the Tingle Tuner? Well, that could definitely be a function of the Wii U's gamepad that a friend that happens to be in the room can use in the same way that the GBA was used in that game. It's nothing much, but that would be interesting to see something like that.

Is gamecube VC announced?

I think not having any Wii U controller with an analog trigger could be a major problem. How would they get around this issue? I don't have many gamecube games but Mario Sunshine makes use of them pretty extensively controlling the FLUDD

Classic Controller Pro does not have analog shoulder buttons.

I have heard the original classic controller did but I have never used one. They don't sell it anymore and no software ever supported the feature.

The Wii U gamepad and Pro Controller also only have digital shoulder buttons.

The Wii and Wii U classic and pro controllers DO have extra buttons that the GC controller didn't. Those could be used to somewhat substitute for the analog functions in games that need it. If it was actually used as analog in those games and not just as an extra button, tilting the controller farther back to get a harder "push" while holding the replacement button could also be substituted there.

And, announced? Yes, it was announced at E3 before the console was released.

They could just tweak the control scheme on a game-by-game basis. For example, in Super Mario Sunshine, they could map "full stream" and "light stream" to two different buttons, since the Wii U Pro controller has more buttons than the GameCube did. Alternatively, a single tap could be light stream, and a double tap could be full stream.

From what I have been able to find GameCube vc has not been announced.

Reggie has said they haven't announced anything when asked.

There was a hint from some other executive in an interview but from looking at the quote it seems to me she really didn't know what she was talking about and I hardly consider it confirmation. Sounded like she was speculating saying GameCube could be available as wii ware. She didn't even say virtual console.

Okay, I don't know why I thought I had actually heard Reggie say in the E3 presentation that select GameCube titles would eventually make their way to Virtual Console but a little googling seems to debunk that idea.

Even then if tueidj (a single programmer working in his spare time) has been able to make such success and great compatibility with Devolution without using an official Devkit and even intentionally limiting his use of the standard homebrew devkit ... imagine what Nintendo itself could accomplish if they put their mind to it.

They could put almost ANY GC disk image up for download either embedded in a Devolution-style virtual machine (kinda like they did with Wii VC emulators) or have said virtual machine software included as part of a future firmware update ... and it would work great, printing lots of money for Ninty.

They really SHOULD .. but I guess no one knows if they really will or not.

That's the main reason I freaked when I heard there would be no GameCube compatibility. I don't mind having to pay a second time for digital downloads that much. I just don't trust Nintendo to release that many GCN games as VC. I mean, on the Wii there's what, literally only 21 N64 games available in the US? Seriously?
There were no more 1st party 2nd party games worth porting.
The best games came from RARE, and we all know what happened to that company and the IP's.

I would love if they can put the following to the VC:
Super Mario Sunshine
Pokemon Channel
Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness/Colosseum
Megaman Battle Network Transmission
Medabots Infinity

But I think only Sunshine has the chance of making it out of that list.

To address some of the games that have already been brought up...

Metroid Prime 1 & 2 - Very unlikely. The Metroid Prime Trilogy for Wii makes these games already playable on the Wii U.
Sonic Adventure DX - This seems plausible, especially since it was released on Xbox Arcade and PSN. It would definitely sell. I would like to see this. SA2 would also logically follow, once that is completed.
Zelda Twilight Princess - Once again, already on Wii, so it's probably not going to happen. They could do a Wii U remake if they wanted to, but I think in Nintendo's eyes making it a VC game would be a dangerous step back that isn't guaranteed to sell well. (Because of the Wii version.)
Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door - This is very likely, given that it's a Mario game, the first Paper Mario is in the original Wii/vWii Virtual Console, and it's currently not playable on Wii. High demand, guaranteed big seller.
Super Mario Sunshine - As others have pointed out, the lack of a pressure-sensitive button on the Wii U Gamepad makes this one seem unlikely. Perhaps they will consider this eventually, but I don't think this is at the top of Nintendo's list.
Luigi's Mansion - I don't think this is likely any time soon simply because we know there is a Luigi game being made right now, and Nintendo won't want to distract potential buyers between 2 similar games. (Especially since VC games are significantly cheaper, which means the Luigi game for Wii U might suffer a bit in sales). I could see them possibly bringing this one back, though.
F Zero GX - This one has potential should Nintendo want to exploit the "tilt to steer" gimmick. Given that this already exists in Nintendoland and is inevitable for almost all Wii U racing games, though, I don't think this is all too likely to come to Wii U.
Super Smash Bros. Melee - This has a good chance just because it's a freakishly popular series and easy to sell. However, fans will inevitably be disappointed that it will almost certainly NOT feature online multiplayer.

Aside from these, the GC games that I would like to see on Wii VC...

Mario Kart: Double Dash - It's a Mario Kart game. Of course they're going to milk this for all they can.
Alien Hominid - It's probably not popular enough to really be taken seriously, but this is a simple game that would work wonderfully on VC.
Crazy Taxi - A classic. Sadly, it's lived it's life, and I don't think it's going to land on Wii U.
