No. Search around, you'll see a couple of threads discussing the current state of GC emulation on the vWii. Short version is that it is believed that Devolution will work on the vWii, however, due to the author's hardline stance against piracy, a mechanism will need to be implemented in order to associate legitimately purchased GC games to a vWii account, as the WiiU cannot read gamecube discs and the Devolution author will not allow his work to support game piracy.

And since such a thing will never actually happen, we're pretty much boned until someone develops an alternative to Devolution.

If you REALLY want to try you could get yourself one of these
18-1885-Product_Primary_Image-thumb.jpg

and see if it'll accept and verify a retail disk with it.
No one's been willing to drop the cash and give one a try. Scared it'd either just not work or actually break something.

After that, the trick would be controlling it. You're only options at this point would be a very limited USB keyboard and mouse control.

I can't see the picture... (error 404) Is it an external USB DVD Drive? I have a pretty expensive Sony external USB DVD drive (it was expensive because it can record DVD's with out a computer you can just connect pretty much anything to it that has some sort of video out and record it...)

I would be willing to test it out on my Wii's, I don't have my Wii-U's hacked... (I don't have Lego anything for the Wii and the other hacks are blocked.)

How much does that cost? I can't seem to find a price anywhere on their site, or even an option to buy it. I'm not saying that I'm going to buy it (I doubt it would work for verification on a Wii U, and even if it did, you wouldn't have any controls anyway), I'm just curious on the price.

Yeah, it was just the first good image that google threw at me. It does take a little bit of work finding a site that sells similar products but they seem to run between $25 and $30

Are the other hacks blocked? I used Smash bros for mine!!

I think Smash Stack still works but letter bomb and zelda are blocked, I bought Zelda the same day the Wii launched (worth the wait in line lol)

I really don't have much interest in hacking Wii mode on the Wii-U, I have my original Wii's for that :) Now if some one makes some sort of hack for the Wii-U omg emulators here I come!!! (I can only imagine the features they will implement with the touch screen.)

Edit: I literally am dying for a good Colecovision or 5200 emulator that has the overlay keys. I can play all of those games via emulation but I have the original hardware and games and overlays and there just is something missing about not looking down and touching a button that says something specific to the game.

Okay, got the price for the adapter theoretically to be used with GC discs is actually closer to $10 but it looks like this is the only product available. I found the post where someone found prices.
Well, I found one, but it's listed as "unavailable"
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000PD89WI

I personally found more results by searching for '3 inch cd adapter' or '3 inch dvd adapter'

EDIT: found one that's supposedly in stock by VenMill - listed from cheapest to most expensive:
http://www.venmill.com/3-Inch-Disc-Adapter_p_1751.html
http://store.cdtagandstorage.com/3inchadapter.aspx
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004ZL9434

Note that in the VenMill Amazon link that GameCube discs are even mentioned in the description (though only referring to disc repair). It's my understanding that VenMill makes some sort of disc repair device, so they've made an adapter for their own product that may just happen to work with others.

In reading this conversation that tueidj is having with Jenna Scoville, it doesnt seem to be an issue with controllers. "I am already able to play gamecube games using the wii's/wii u's/ps3's bluetooth controllers"

Very interesting indeed!

It is apparent that tuedj has found a way to use bluetooth controllers with Devolution. I can only assume that WiiU CCPro would be a marvel to play GC games.-

If tuedj solves the disc verification issue, then a Devol-U-tion release would be a matter of days...:grog:

(OK , I know...Wishful thinking. )

I don't have a Wii U yet, but I tested a 3-inch disc adapter (made by Sony :)) with a Gamecube disc in a Wii and that worked perfectly fine. I'm assuming vWii mode doesn't acknowledge GC discs, but since Devolution seems to be able run GC images in that mode and Devolution can probably access the Wii U's disc drive, I would expect disc verification to be possible.

That's only really relevant if it was one of the new Wii "slims" that don't accept GC discs normally.

I did try to consider that before posting. :)

The result should be relevant because:

- Not all makes/models of slot-loading drives work with disc adapters. However, the Wii drive made by Panasonic does work with disc adapters, slot-loading drives for PCs made by Panasonic have been reported to work with the adapters as well, and the Wii U drive is also made by Panasonic. It isn't unreasonable to expect a certain amount of consistency in the drive designs from this manufacturer.

- Both Wii and GC discs are the same type that deviates slightly from the standard DVD format. As long as the Wii U drive can physically load a GC disc in an adapter, I'm not aware of any technical limitation that could prevent the drive from reading GC discs just as effortlessly as it reads Wii discs.

The vWii firmware probably won't acknowledge GC discs in adapters until a friendly programmer convinces that firmware to branch out a bit. For now, I'm just happy being very optimistic that GC disc support will eventually be a reality on Wii U. :)

What's the point of GC disc support if you can't hook up any GC controllers and GC memory cards?
devolution can already emulate a memcard on usb or sd and if you read a few posts back the author has already gotten it to control GC games with types of conrollers that CAN be connected to a wii u. All it needs is to be able to see a disk to "install" the corresponding disk image for use with that console and, BAM, public GC loading on wii u

Great to see that someone finally tested this! FYI, I was the guy that hunted down and found the disc expander linked-above that is still being sold.
