Let's say a firmware update comes out that blocks the R4 card, and I bought a 3ds game from the eshop previously (And it's installed to my 3ds, etc...) ... A few questions if this were to happen:

1) Would I need to have the latest firmware update for the Eshop game to BOOT? (I know some companies do this kind of thing...). Or will the game boot, even on a lower firmware?

2) Would the 3DS need to be connected to the internet for the game to run?

3) (I've read many things about this) I understand the eshop downloads are NOT account-based, as with the PSN, Xbox, etc. If I were to sign up for the Club Nintendo account thing, THEN buy the game, can I re-download the game on another 3DS if this current 3DS were to get stolen/broken, etc.? I've heard the game purchase history is on the Club Nintendo account. Would I need to contact Nintendo to do something about such a thing?

Thanks so much!

1) No
2) No
3) Yes you can re-downloaded them but i think you need to register ur Club Nintendo account first.
I tried with mine and it works fine. Btw, free games that you got from Nintendo can be re-downloaded too but don't forget to sign in ur Club Nintendo on ur 3DS before buying/downloading it.

Please, how can i register to club nintendo?
Do i need to have some nintendo product and register that product in order to make account at Nintendo?
I don't have any code of nintendo product, all of the are used on another account that i lost my pass and password of that email, so i cant reset password on nintendo either...

Plase help :)

when you buy a game off the eshop is is LINKED to the system that bought it, so you CAN NOT send just that ONE game to a different system

you can ONLY send EVERYTHING on one 3ds to a new 3ds with the system transfer

your Club Nintendo account is NOT a eshop account

linking you system to you Club Nintendo account just get you reward points

you can redownload stuff off the eshop, BUT the system must have BOUGHT the game or had the games system transfer to it

3ds( A) bought the the game with Club Nintendo account linked

3ds (B) did NOT buy the game OR did s system transfer with 3ds (A) has the same Club Nintendo account linked to it CAN NOT re-download the game

Not sure.
Try it at nintendo site.

So when you download and pay for a game online, that game is linked to your Nintendo account and not your Nintendo console itself, like console serial and so... ? (don't know, just thinking out loud)

the club Nintendo linked is NOT needed, to use the eshop (it something extra you can do)

when you BUY stuff off the eshop it is LINKED to the system that bought the game

Aha, so it's automatic..i get it.
But what (for example) if i format my 3DS system memory, will i still be linked?
i remember on my Wii when i formatted Wii memory it was like i newer bought games i bought. What to do in that case?

He's wrong with the 3rd one, Club Nintendo is just for points, if your 3DS gets stolen you can NOT redownload anything since it's all exclusive to the 3DS you bought it on or transferred content too. If it's broken Nintendo can help you restore your content.

But please do update, if not you will either encounter a game that needs the newest update or the auto update download/install feature will get you if you press A by mistake when asked about it. Plus you're missing out on eShop content if you don't update. Get a DStwo if you want to be on the safe side.

Thank you so much guys!

I'm just curious.. how does the e-shop see my 3DS? i mean..how does it know that it's my 3DS and not somebody else 3DS, is there some code inside console, like friend code..is that it?

All 3DS systems are uniquely signed, so all info like your friend code and purchases made on that system are available for that system only. It's an encrypted software based ID we don't have access to.

He may consider to sniffer when it goes on e-shop.
In face i think there is something about the identification of 3ds devices..
However the PDML i captured is not the whole also it's too big for me to analyze.

Analyzing TMDs.. I found it much more joyful doing hack than playing games. WTF.

So that's how it is.. so is that encrypted code (i don't know how to technically say that now..) hard printed or soft printed? for example.. could it EVER be changed if 3DS is, lets say, fully hacked..? theoretically..

just curious.. and sorry for being a noob :P

If the 3DS is fully hacked, signatures shouldn't be needed since the 3DS will run stuff without it.

If you mean finding the data needed to sign something, they're not in the 3DS. They're at Nintendo.

As Rydian said a hack would have to work around those restrictions.
To answer your first question, the encryption can be transfered via the 3DS system transfer, so yes it's software based.

so..i guess hacking 3DS is only option to not lose anny game :P

that signing thing remints me of Nokia symbian s60v3 phones, where i needed signatures and so.... :ha:
so it's like.. Nintendo has the red pill (key) xD

...thanks :)

aha.. thanks so much, it's much clearer now :)
so its like wii nand backup.. i i would to do 3DS nand backup, and transfered it to another 3DS, that other 3DS would hawe all those games i downloaded and e-shop account would be linked to that 3DS... it's like soul of 3DS hehe :P

thanks, i get it now..
