Hello to all,
A friend gave me his PSP 1000 today, so I can hack it, because he couldn't do it.
So, I took the PSP home, fired it up and saw it was running OFW 5.50.
I immediately went ahead and tried to update it and it gave me an error(DRNFFFFFFCD).
I decided to instead try to install GEN-D3 and softmod the battery so that it becomes a Pandora and fix the first issue.
But when I tried to launch the CFW Installer, it said "The game cannot be started. The data is corrupted." Then I tried the same with another working memory card, same issue.
I tried running other programs, same issue.
Can you suggest anything, since I have to return it to tomorrow?

Since you're on OFW, and that error relates to a patched IDStorage Key, you're going to need access to a Pandora battery. From the OFW you have at the moment you can't make one, and as you can't do anything to install a CFW you'll either have to buy a Pandora or find someone that has one.

I take it that the PSP was second hand when your friend got it?

Don't know if he has bought it second hand.
I read somewhere that I can make a normal battery into a Pandora. If there is such a way and it doesn't involve much soldering skills(I suck at hardware ), could you point me at a tutorial.

Well, he said that he doesn't mind and gave me a day extra, so I'll give it a shot.

Hi again,
I just thought of an idea. I have myself a PSP 2006 and I wondered if the PSP 1000 battery could be turned into a Pandora with that PSP.
So I tried connecting the Phat battery to the slim, but it doesn't connect easily and when it does, it just turns itself off 2-3 seconds after pulling it out the charger.
As for putting the Slim battery into the Phat, the same thing happens.
Are they even compatible and if they are, can I make a 1000 battery into a Pandora via the 2000?

Yeah you should be able to use the 2K to softmod the 1K battery into a pandora.

1K batteries often need to be held against the PSP (battery cover off and pressing it tight) to stay connected, make sure it's not just barely making contact.
Holding it as tight as I can, but it doesn't boot. It just boots at certain positions. Both the contact wires on the PSP and the battery look clean and the Slim battery works fine on the Slim and the Phat one on the Phat without the cover.

Phat batteries work fine on slim consoles....i use them for mine for extra charge time (you get a couple more hours). It should just sit in place. Is the battery swollen?

Nope, battery fits exactly on place. But I just noticed that the Phat battery doesn't work on the Phat PSP, too.
Ther's probably some sort of a connection issue with the battery.
