I was researching some flashcards and the R4i-SDHC caught my eye because it appears the devs keep up with DSi updates and it has a nice price to it. Is there any thing I should know about it, or suggestions of something else to get that's better in the same price range (currently selling for $12).

Thanks

edit: how does GBAtemp know what profile picture I use on other forums :wtf:

All I really need is something to play ROMs, and can be updated if need be. Don't need cheats, media player, or the ability to run homebrews.

erm dont buy that card then
buy a R4ids.cn Gold
make sure the site matches what i said

R4i-SDHC drop there old revision cards fast
they just released 2 new ones

R4ids.cn release new cards but try to keep there older ones supported for as long as possible

there around the same price and R4ids.cn supports Wood Kernel so game compatibility is great on it also

Don't buy clones just because they're cheaper. Notice that the further you scroll down the "download" page, the lower compatibility becomes? That's because cheap clones like that one will drop carts after a few updates, and you'd need to buy a new one.

I have this card v4.5 and it works well for me. But I knew about the 'one card released for one firmware version' strategy before I bought it. If you dont want to use eshop anymore and this card is easily accessible for you I can recommend it for Dsi owners, it's a more risky buy for 3ds.

The most recommended card here (Dstwo) has a lot of features that many, including me, would never use and its 3-4 times more expensive) so make an informed decision.

R4i-sdhc is a good card but you need to know the limitations, which is the possibility of no cart firmware updates in the future if you decide to update your ds firmware.

You do know there's carts out there other than R4-SDHC and the DSTwo, right? Like the R4i Gold, which is in the same price range as the stuff from the SDHC site, and gets updates.

Also it's not just the eshop, some legit 3DS carts will try to update the firmware, and if you don't do it you can't run the games.

"Informed", you are not. :P

R4-SDHC is a shit team.

Yes, but please read the OP's question

I know, that's why I said it's more risky to buy it for 3ds, please read more carefully

Whatever

You are free to have an opinion like that.

Yes, sure, go call things you don't like "opinions" so you can ignore them. :P

Fact: The R4i Gold is in the same price bracket as the R4-SDHC (unlike the DSTwo).
Fact: The R4-SDHC team puts out carts with only one or two updates (you even admitted this).
Fact: The R4i Gold team puts out carts with many more updates. In fact some of their DSi carts were upgraded for some 3DS compatibility too (stopping mid-4.x IIRC).
Fact: Buying the R4i Gold once is cheaper than buying the R4-SDHC multiple times in order to pass updates.

The R4-SDHC is a bad product run by a bad team, and people should not buy it.

It almost seems like you get paid to do this. Fight for it if you wish. I'm not going to tell anyone which cart is the best and I'm sure there are many that work fine.

I simply shared my experience with a cart I bought and it works perfectly fine for me. That's all. You remain the only 'smartass' in this sandbox, have fun.

No I don't, I'm just sick and tired of people suggesting shit products, because then other people buy those shit products, then come into THESE FORUMS complaining that their shit products don't work. Look around you and you'll see tons of people asking for help with unsupported/dropped/dead carts.

And when people talk about them, we try not to suggest them in the first place. Like the "R4i Gold Plus". Check here. You can see somebody saying people should buy it, and me saying it's shit and you shouldn't.

And oh, look, it gets discontinued, so no more updates.

If people like YOU didn't go around purposely telling people to buy bad products, then WE wouldn't have to deal with this shit, which is why I'm trying to get you to stop it.
