Which game is better? I know that both are of different genre, etc. But if you were to get 1 game, which would it be? Considering that you never played any MH or FE game before.

MH3 has no online (altho you can transfer your save to the Wii-u version and play online that way) but imo having no online on this version of the game is a crime against gaming so i would get Fire Emblem which has had strong reviews all over and i plan to buy that when its out here.

Easy, get both of them. That's what I'm gonna do.

...Just, I will buy MH3U for my 3DS and Wii U AND also for couple of my friends who have a 3DS.

Well, I love Monster Hunter games, but Monster Hunter 3G is somewhat of a port, it has a lot of improvements and new things, pretty much making it a new game, but still doesn't change the fact it's not exactly new, whereas Fire Emblem is a whole new game, and I don't know about the US is the same, but over here and in Japan, if you buy it within the first two months of release, you get a free DLC mission, so that's also a bonus per se.

MH is an aquired taste, some love it for whatever reason, others think of as a dull mundane game trapped with the design flaws of the 90's.

Fire Emblem games have always been very good at the very least.

Thanks for putting my feelings about MH games into words for me.

Get Fire Emblem.

If you have already played Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii, then pass on the 3ds one.
If you haven't, wait for the demo and try out the gameplay to see if it fits you.
Monster Hunter is popular cuz of its multiplayer, but it's harder to get into if you play by yourself. Still loads of fun though.

In Singapore, Monster Hunter is quite popular (obviously not as hot as Japan). There are constant meetups where people hunt together in Macs/Starbucks and such meetups can last for hours. Multiplayer is where MH truly shines and it's quite a sad thing that MH3U has no online for 3DS.

If your location does have such a fad, you might want to consider 3U. It's a really decent game. However if you have played Tri before on the Wii, you might want to skip this. Try the demo to see if you like the game or not. Like what others pointed out, MH can be a favorite or an absolute stink bomb for some.

I can't say too much about Fire Emblem because I don't own it. Fire Emblem isn't so hot over here. Some gamers have never even heard of it, which is really sad. From what I've seen, FE:A has received pretty good reception from both players and reviewers.

...if you never played either before... dont play either.

to be honest, both games arent exactly what you'd expect just from the screenshots.
monsterhunter is a really slow game, specially at the beginning. you'll have to waste countless hours collecting items, selling them, turning them into armor, getting 2 dozen armorsets, building traps and stuff like that.

fire emblem can piss you of to no end with its tendency to crit stuff in the worst possible situations.

if you have the option, check out the ds fire emblem games first to see if you have any fun with them.
monster hunter too.

one way or another, check if you like these games before you pay for them. i made the mistake of spending 30€ on monster hunter tri, it was never worth it to me. never had any fun with it.

Although I agree that MH is a very slow paced title, I have to say that even if you don't like both games, it doesn't mean that OP might not like them as well.

EDIT: i didn't pay attention to the "check" part in the post. My bad.

Go try demos before buying. I wanted to buy Dynasty Warriors Versus but thank god I played the demo. It was horrible like crap.

While I've read the rest of your post. If I followed that kind of advice I wouldn't have never discovered how great the Fire Emblem series is.

To the op, I highly recommend Fire Emblem Awakening, considering it is also noob friendly and yet it can be quite harsh for the seasoned players.
