I'm 6'5" and my hands, like all my other bodily appendages, are larger than average to say the least. I actually start getting cramps after holding on to the thing for a few minutes. It's just hard to hold comfortably for me at the current thickness.

Does anyone know of an accessory that will make the bottom half thicker? May some battery pack or shell/case thing? I mean I know they make cases and battery packs, but adding thickness to the 3DS XL is usually not a selling point. Most people want devices that are slimmer not bigger. So I'm trying to get an idea from people who might have an accessory like this how much width it adds and I'm trying to find the one that adds the most.

Thanks.

Woah that looks pertty sweet and bad ass looking. I think I'll get that. Does it have extra battery power too? I like to have more battery power for long flights.

I also get hand cramps on the middle lower of my palms. the XL is not designed ergonomically in mind.
Glad to know I'm not the only one I thought it was just because I had freakishly big hands lol. I think this circle pad pro xl looks pretty nice. Reading reviews it seems to really help out with gripping the 3dsxl.

I'm just wondering how easy it is to use the right hand buttons on games that don't have dual stick support.

I'm afraid not - it only adds the second slider and the ZL/ZR shoulder buttons. These extras may be used with select games that support the Circle Pad.

The Circle Pad Pro XL is to-be-released in Europe and North America, but I think it's just a matter of time now.

Hmm...still looks pretty decent though and I am planning on getting Kid Icarus and MH3 when it's released.

Hmm now I'm conflicted...I was hoping for a nice big battery pack but now I think I want the second circle pad too. It would be great if someone made a double doozy like that.

I wonder if its worth importing from Japan now or if they will release it in NA soon.

There's also this guy that you can find here: http://www.jtt.ne.jp/shop/product/3dsll_powerchment/

Its a battery extender, and the only I can seem to find for the 3DS Xl. I gotta admit it looks really comfortable. I don't know at all if they ship those to america or not though, some pics:

They come in multiple colors too. Apparently it'll triple the battery life of your 3DS XL as well.

Yeah, that does look like it would be decent and nice extension to battery life. 9980 yen is a little over 100 USD though, so that's a bit more than I was looking to pay...

Seeing that you're experiencing cramps so-far, the extra space is likely to be beneficial rather than a hindrence - you'll be able to straighten your finger fully.

The bottom is gamepad-shaped too, so it's going to be comfortable to hold, I think.

I agree that the layout isn't perfect, but what can you do? It's hard to improve upon it without making it uncomfortable.

Here's the curved bottom side:

Thanks for all the info....I think I will just go ahead and grab one imported. Looks like it will run about 30 USD to get it here, circle pad pro is for 3DS is ~20. I doubt the XL version will be much cheaper when it gets released in NA. An extra 10 bucks is worth it to me to have this sooner rather than later :D

the problem with grips is that they add to the bottom rather than the sides where your palm rests. i had the same problem with PSP. ideally you would want more thickness on the sides so your thumb is farther away from the D-Pad. adding thickness to the bottom does absolutely nothing.

also, the CirclePad-Pro pretty useless. it is longer on the right side than the left.

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
