GTA V Delayed To September 2013

To everyone looking forward to the next installment in Rockstar's wildly popular Grand Theft Auto franchise, well, there's some bad news. The developer just posted this message to their website.

Dear all,

Today, we have an official release date to share with you: Grand Theft Auto V will arrive in stores on September 17, 2013.

We know this is about four months later than originally planned and we know that this short delay will come as a disappointment to many of you, but, trust us, it will be worth the extra time. GTAV is a massively ambitious and complex game and it simply needs a little more polish to be of the standard we and, more importantly, you require.

To all Grand Theft Auto fans, please accept our apologies for the delay, and our promise that the entire team here is working very hard to make the game all it can be. We are doing all we can to help ensure it will meet if not exceed your expectations come September – we thank you for your support and patience.

It looks like we'll just have to wait a little bit longer before cracking heads and hijacking cars in Los Santos. Still, as long as we get a better, more polished product in the end, the wait should be worth it.

I'd imagine there is quite a big of a mess if they actually delay the game for the PS360 almost half a year. Imagine if they started developing the two other versions and wanted a single release date.. All in due time

Regardless of the reasons for the delay, hopefully they don't go the Bethesda route with the bugs

"We at Rockstar have a habit of delivering the best there is, we program for next generation platforms well before they are released to be on top of the game, no matter what game it is. Regrettably, the next generation didn't come on-schedule so we need to postpone the release. We're truly sorry for the inconvenience this might've caused."

It happened with GTA IV, and so I see it happening as well. I just hope the PC port for GTA V (if there will be one) won't be as bad as the one for IV.
