Not happening anyway. Without access to Wii U drive, cannot copy/backup Wii U discs. Won't have access, ever, and really unless firmware is hacked, no Wii U backups will work either. Even if you find ways to backup games outside of Wii U, good luck playing them without USB drives for Wii U games, access to the Wii U drive, and access to the Wii U nand. It does not truly matter who this offends (they will know) but will all make sense in good time. It makes sense, given goals, BUT sort of comes up short for my purposes. Nothing else to ask, so felt the need to get this off my chest. To me, the whole "Cloak and daggers" game is silly. Talk of backups and other things are irrelevent. I don't truly care anymore, may not even come back here. I only wanted to run backups off USB drive. Bought over 20 Wii games and loved that feature. If anyone wants backups, better get going on unlocking the Wii U yourselves;-) If you want emulators with full hardware access then enjoy linux on top of vWii. Hardware access minus nand, nand key, access to Wii U drive, etc. If you want to design your own games, and maybe have some more powerful emulators, then the release will be awesome for you.

--Doubt I will regret this tomorrow; once I learned of these things (unless GROSS misinformation), there was nothing else for me to know. Public talks have been quoted before AND talks I thought were private were also quoted before.

And you were so close to a full month of being here, too. Aww, for shame.

Long story short, I'm not the first to tell you that these things take time. Hell, when I got my Wii in.. I don't know, 2009? 2010? Anyway, when I finally got my Wii, even though it had been out for quite some time, it was still hard to find information on running backup loaders. Frankly, I'm amazed that so much has been done with the Wii U in such short a time, already. I suppose a large portion of thanks for that go to Nintendo, for just making it so gosh darn easy, but either way. I digress.

I bought a Wii U because I liked the Wii U. I thought it looked like a fun and useful entertainment device/tool. And I was right. I've played more hours in NSMBU than I even care to think about, and killed my fair share of zombies too. The vWii functionality (and the ability to use my preexisting HDD setup flawlessly) is just icing on the cake. Now, if I could someday run Wii U games off that same terabyte HDD, it might just be the perfect console. Until then, is it a bad console? Not even remotely so. It is a young console, and it has a lot, and I repeat a lot of life left in it. Give it time.

Not really negative, JUST saying, if misinformation then a cruel joke BUT if true, then no need to keep asking somebody INSIDE any questions. No access to Nand, no way to get to keys for others (unless they are as good as fail0verflow), cannot decrypt nand, no access to disc drive. Release will be linux on top of vWii. Access to processor, GPU, RAM but nothing useful for backups, trainers for Wii U games, etc. I highly doubt anyone can/will get to key as fail0verflow has done. Like I said, was not going to share what I learned, BUT if true, nothing else to ask. If misinformation, fine, cannot trust that type of person giving that misinformation. Linux will access vWii nand but that is all. SO, it is not a matter of time, it would be a matter of somebody else actually unlocking Wii U for feature you said would make it a perfect system. With no information to get, having my answers, there is no reason to read speculation and hope (really my point). Added more thoughts in another thread.

It's all about entropy. Everything falls apart, given enough time. Many, many years ago, they once would fill the forums and shout to the edges of cyberspace, "You will NEVER be able to play Gamecube backups from SD or USB! It simply isn't possible!"

Okay, maybe it really wasn't all that long ago. It just takes time.

Lol, true, like I said, either misinformation and why trust a source not giving solid info, OR truth and nothing else to know;-) Time will tell, and Gamecube was a great system. I went into it when it was $60, and bought all cames used. Metroid games were awesome, owned NES, Gameboy, PS1, PSP, N64, 360, etc. Spent THOUSANDS of dollars, then had hacked sytems also. Began with Atari actually (2500, 5200? Then a 7xxx?) . If a joke, I eat my words and say, "Misinformation, not getting any info anyway" and happily do that. IF I am wrong. Not a huge deal (he knows what I refer to, lol).

Anyone else other than fail0verflow going to unlock Wii U, nand, drive? If it goes as I was told, then nothing beyond vWii will be accessible. Wii with access to processor/gpu/ram of Wii U. No help for Wii U games. I like ghe optimism, but they have keys and will not share. Not with us, but I bet their inner circle will have fully unlocked Wii U, "backups" etc. Ethical is to not hack at all. "Here is linux, no acces to Wii U internals, we hacked it, yay for us!!". Congrats, but I don't hear anything from anyone else about unlocking Wii U. Allegedly, nand encrypted with hmac/aes, key kidden, so plan is give linux for homebrew only. Told it was a lie, I was told lies, will look foolish. Oh, "Not prone to collisions" about nand key. Private messages, told it was all a lie and when release happens I will look even more crazy. Then I said, I figured misinformation and why talk to source who lies...or truth and why need to keep secret when that truth is basically Wii U having Wii functionality without stuff I mentioned. I type as I think, not editing for an academic essay. One word at a time will help clowns who insist on insulting me. Have not said name of who told me this info. On #wiiudev, not marcan, not comex.

I told them it is false and happy times then...or a bunch of misinformation and then either way my need to speak with source on efnet is gone;-). I hope it was misinfo. Enter the clowned one (avatar) to mention sentence structure and anything else not relevent. This info matters; know what to expect.

I pictured him rocking back and forth in his chair holding a knife while I was reading his post.

ray... tell us the truth... are .. you.. yoda? damn it would explain the language. sry for not discovering it soon enough. may you forgive us, oh master.
Lol, such characterizations there. No knife, and not rocking in a chair, not Yoda. Not sure what this has to do with my info. Having opinions makes one crazy now? I'd say being a conformist who can insult instead of comprehend information is more alarming. More than, "The dog is red" and people fall apart. Typing on phone sucks;-). Brain you have, use it you do not. Yoda enough?

I'm so confused Ray... Is there information you have that you promised not to share or is there information that you want to know but don't?

I get you want the Wii U to be able to play backups through hacking, but what's this about misinformation? Just was fail0verflow have posted? Or have you been in some chat rooms?

Fine, member of fail0verflow, individual conversation. Had those quoted before when I thought they were private. Told everything I typed. Then told it was misinformation and when hack released I would look even more crazy. After they told me, I looked at it as two possibilities; given truth, or they intentionally gave me false info. Misinformation. If misinformation, then no need to trust them anymore. If truth, then I know about release type and no more information to get. So I posted it and still have not put their name out there. Rest is what I would want. Hope this answers your question. Thanks for not flaming. I laugh when others do, I like everyone and have fun with back and fourth talking but it does not hurt me at all. Was trying to inform people so maybe others could be prepared; begin work, set expectations correctly. When released, we find out which type of info I was told.

I was going to mention a few games and at what resolution they render at but couldn't be bothered researching haha. Ones off the top of my head are Halo, COD and GTA IV. Some render as low as 576 resolutions but aren't noticed by most people. This is also with Blue ray on the PS3, which proves my point that bigger storage does not equal 1080p which was solely my point.
Ignorance is bliss...but I wouldn't know...

OK, I think I get it.

Had those quoted before when I thought they were private.
But I still don't get this^. Those are what? The conversations? So "the member from fail0verflow" posted them?

Meh, anyway... I think I'm taking this thread off topic. :P

Yes, a member told me vWii with linux on top. No keys will be shared, no access to wi u nand, disc drive, etc. Only linux with access to gpu, cpu, and ram. Not fully unlocked. Won't disclose how they obtained all keys either. Gist; told this in private convo on efnet. Forget Wii u backups and making them.

Maybe, they just passed on some half information, so it would stop people bleating and complaining, the way you talk, its like there is only 1 group in the world capable of doing what you say, and they wont do you you want them to, so you have a hissy fit about it, MAYBE that is what is going to come at the start, but things evolve, look how long it took ps3 scene to mature, years..... and still progressing now (moving on to ODE) maybe that will come out for WiiU at some stage... who knows, But expecting full access to a system 5 minutes after release is asking a bit much, If i was a team i would wait for a major firmware update before releasing anything anyway, WiiU is still an infant :) Over the 7+ years i have been here, there have been alot of developments and releases across all consoles, albeit slow periods aswell, hell back at the start, it was just GBA, people are spoilt for choice these days and still complain............

Been around awhile myself. I agree with everything except hissy fit. People flamed and I was trying to give info out. Either misinformation, or truth. Time will tell. Thanks for sharing thoughts.

cripes, are there no mods here anymore?

Ray , get your own thread to natter crap in, I don't think there's a single person here who appreciates any of your "input" and I'm tired of checking this thread for updates and seeing post after post of pure drivel.

people like RL are allowed to spew their nonsensical jibber-jab all across gbatemp without repercussion. whether it is false information or otherwise. ladies and gentleman, you are all being tolled by RL. he knows absolutely nothing and no one from FO, in their right mind, would give away any info, especially to someone like him.

Ahhh, clown entered with opinions;-). People asked questions and what I shared is directly related to backups, homebrew, progress of wii u hacking, etc. Is insulting mods a great idea? No facts, nothing to add, just a clown face acting, well, as a clown. You obviously cannot read so what you post is calling yourself illiterate. Make me laugh clown, be yourself;-). Oh, in another thread, a guy literally told somebody to "Fuck off" and so my posts are nowhere near that.
