Yes, 9 months after the MMORPG well known for insanely skimpy armor launched, it's going free to play. That's February for those wondering. I guess it's to be expected when high level armor is that revealing, no?
It's not just a F2P conversion though, the FTP version will have some new features as well.

South Korean fantasy MMO Tera goes free-to-play in February, nine months after launching with a traditional subscription.
Gameforge, which manages Tera in Europe, announced that those who have already played and paid will be granted Veteran status following the switch. Unlike free players, Veterans will have all eight character slots instead of two, four bank tabs instead of one and a special title available in-game. There's also the Tera Club, which you'll automatically join if you still have an active subscription by February. This status provides you with bonuses and boosts during your remaining subscription time after Tera goes free-to-play. After it expires you'll switch to Veteran status.
The switch to free-to-play also brings with it new content, including a new three versus three arena, new bosses, new dungeons and raids and new challenges set within the political system.

Just as I was looking into it to see if it was worth the price, this is announced.
Cool!

Free to play probably makes a ton more money than a monthly fee. Sure, more people can play without paying anything, but then there are people who are willing to drop tons of cash for exclusive items. I've seen people on some MMO forums saying they just dropped $200 in a game... O:

Played a bit with a friend a while ago, but unfortunatelyI was pretty busy at this time (army and stuff). I might give it another shot after my exams

I played it in beta, and I thought its gameplay was very fun.... Controller based MMORPG's are too hard to come by. Apart from that though, I never played it, didn't have the money. I now have a 40-60kb/s internet connection, but IMO it might be worth a few days of non stop downloading to get this when it's FTP.

Lemme guess...you will have to pay to get all the high level armor. In other words: it'll be pretty much a strip club with a fantasy setting. :P

The only classes that even seem to get skimpy armor are cloth armor users.
Leather armor users get like...farm outfits and clown costumes. Not kidding. My Elin looked like a fucking redneck (and she still does).
Heavy armor is actually ...heavy. It's quite full and awesome looking. Was jealous of my friend's lancer.
So remember, casters are prostitutes.

Anyway, it's not surprising. Most P2P MMOs just can't hold up these days, even games like Tera which are phenomenal.
Unfortunately I can't really handle proper MMOs these days, what with work and all that. So I had to drop my sub, but I still regard it as the best MMO in many years....though nothing beats Ragnarok Online for me but meh. That's just too hard to top.
I'll probably hop on when it goes F2P to check on things and maybe level my Sorc.

It'd be nice if the game wasn't so Tera-ble.

Is that a case of the seldom seen double pun?

Anyway I call potentially misleading title. Granted I was hoping for a minigame cross game earner or something or even a general spinoff as a I wandered in.

Everyone else understood what it meant, only you got confused. I really don't see how either, it's just a funny title saying it's turning into "Tera: Rising", which will be FTP.

I've heard some decent things about the game but the art is really a killer to me and I'd rather take a game with better art, universe, and story like TOR over a game with better gameplay like Tera.

That's just me though.
