Gaming can't connect psp to computer

Got a universal usb cable, plugged it in but nothing pops up. anyone know how to fix this?

Silly question, is it actually in USB mode? Settings > USB Connection.

Ya, usb mode is on, usb charge is off. I plug it in and the psp stays on the waiting screen

Use a different USB port / use a different USB cable

try a different port on the PC

it might not be making a good connection try replugging the cable

Tried every port, still nothin. only got the one cable

Check the port of the PSP. My Go is like that, turns out the port is split in the middle. Still charges perfectly fine, but usb connections don't work.

edit: Just remembered the regular PSP uses a generic cable... Oh well, could still check it out for damage.

xp and 7 should have them

If it was a driver issue it'd try to connect and Windows would tell you about it. It sounds like the port on the PSP, or the cable are bad.

It should work perfectly fine on that setup. Definitely a faulty cable or port, then.

Is there a difference? Pretty sure all USB cables are data cables unless you short out the data pins.

Yeah there is a difference, some cables charge only and dont allow data transfer

Maybe it can also be from the memory card itself.
