Gaming Problem updating Wii and the Ambassador Program

Hi, everyone!

I was Wii Platinum Ambassador since 31th December 2009. I have really enjoyed the program until now.

I had the Hombrew Channel installed (without modchip) to play some translated games (such as Project Zero IV, Dead Space Extraction or Okami) and the 4.1 version of the Wii System.

As you may now, tomorrow will be the last day (in Europe, at least) that the DK Country saga will be at VC. For that reason, and the arrival of Wii U, I decided to upgrade the Wii to the 4.3E version (official update, through Wii Options menu) and access to the shop to buy the second and the third episode (I already have the first one).

I didn't have any trouble updating, but...SURPRISE! After that, I had all my WiiPoints (4300) in the Wii Shop Channel but...it's like I wasn't a Platinum Ambassador anymore. Now, I have to pay for every game in the Wii Shop. I tried with the DK Country 2 & 3 and...yeah, they take away 1600 Wii Points (800 for each game).

I know that I deserve it, it's my fault for install the Hombrew Channel. But, man, feels like a punch in the stomach. It was really hard for me to obtain the Platinum status and...well, I'm really angry with myself. I can't claim nothing to Nintendo. In any case, the next Monday I will try to call to Costumer Service and we will see.

I didn't find anything like this in the whole Internet, maybe I'm the first fool with this problem. Nice!

you could have avoided updating thru nintendo and updated thru ModMii, and also updated your Shop channel with it too.
Now your screwed.
If only you would'nt have jumped the gun and read up in our forums on that stuff.....

Hi!
I was a platinum member too! I didn´t have any homebrew installed on my wii. But as i went to the shop channel last friday, all the previously free games had the original price. Luckily I downloaded the dkc games before. So i don´t think it your installed homebrew channel and update has anything to do with it! It's more like a technical problem.
I will contact Nintendo about it, too.
Please keep me updated what they said. I will, too!

Please tell us if you get an answer, because I have the same problem right now.
I originally wanted to download all available games before they end the ambessador programm so I don't lose the free download afterwards. Well, now I miss quite a few games because they wrote on their official website that the games were still available for download after ending the programm ... :/

I didn't receive an answer yet but when I loaded the wii shop channel today all the NES, SNES and N64 games were marked as downloadable. So the problem seems to be solved! :-)
But I still have a question: I linked the shop channel to my club nintendo account a few weeks ago, so that I can get the 50 stars per game for the stars catalogue. I downloaded the Donkey Kong Country Trilogy on November 20th, the games are listed in my Club Nintendo Account, but there are still no surveys for which I can obtain the star bonus. And the other ambassador programm games aren't even listed. Does anyone have the same problem?

And relating to your question. I think I've read somewhere that Nintendo removed the star survey for new purchases.
