To be honest, it looks A LOT better than the original CPP.

Still, it's a piece of optional crap. Hopefully Nyko comes out a proper solution.

I wonder if the 3DS XL is big enough to add a sort of "mini" slide-pad attachment that fits over the bottom right corner. It might be flimsy, but it would definitely be bigger than an attachment that makes it way too big.

Not necessarily. There's a lot more extra space on the back of the XL than on the back of the original 3DS. they could easily add extra triggers more "inward," like the original Wii classic controller.

I must say, I love the fact that they've actually bothered to even stick a price tag on it at that size. Buying a brick would be a better option. Is this really my only solution for a second pad?

Not everyone owns a PS3/360 (such as me).

And Resident Evil: Revelations, Monster Hunter, Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy, Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance and Nano Assault all benefit from this.

Honestly that's where I disagree, well, with KH anyways. I found that the CPP did absolutely nothing for that game, and actually hindered my gaming experience. Resident Evil Revelations is another debatable one as others (like me) prefer it without the second analog.

Hopefully Nyko will make a Power Grip Pro 3DS XL. For those who don't know what a power grip pro is, it is basically a circle pad pro with added protection for the 3DS and extended battery life. It is said to be releasing during October. http://www.nyko.com/...=Power+Grip+Pro

Yeah, that's what I'm hoping too. Waiting for the Power Grip Pro is literally the only thing holding me back from buying a 3DS.

Resident evil is so much more fun with Gyroscope control's. That'd go for any first person shooting game on 3ds in my opinion.
