OK I have a issue with WiiMC that I could use some help with. The program can see that data disc are in the Wii console and or my USB-DVD drive but when I try to load from USB-DVD I get a crash and when I try from the internal DVD drive, I get a "Disc not Supported" message. Take note that my Wii is oooooolllllllddddd :yaywii: and I STILL load games using cIOSCORP. I'm also running on system menu 4.2. Any help would be appreciated. If I remember correctly there's an app that lets me summon up a IOS listing so if you need that, just remind me of the app (I think I have it on one of my SD cards) and I'll make a listing for you.

have you tried straight from usb, no disc?
Your wii dvd drive may be the culprit here...

I agree but "Why?" is the question. I can load backups properly though the Disc Channel, Neogamma and U-Loader with both the internal drive and USB-DVD (U-Loaoder only). That's why I'm wondering if it's an IOS issue. Most of my Data disc are DVD-9 but I even tried the one DVD-5 I had with a SmackDown event I went to on it. Even that was a no go. :/ I'm baffled.

I'm reviving this thread because I'm still having problems reading Data-DVD disc and it's not just with WiiMC. I also tried the following apps

- MPlayerCE
- MPlayerWii

I'm also getting crashes every time I load a file off a disc :( I just used Syscheck to pull up a list of what's in my system. I appreciate any help I can get.

Here is my Wii information...

Okay, I'm not sure if this is THE problem
but
I know uLoader has trouble loading from the USB-DVD drive when it's using a cIOS with 57 as a base.
I at least KINDA think that when WiiMC uses a cIOS it's 202 and that is installed with that base. I can't remember if there's a setting in WiiMC to tell it to load from a different IOS but that's always an option
OR
Just go download the sets of WAD's for the different Hermes cIOS versions from ModMii (v4, v5, and v5.1R) and install your preferred version in each slot (not all versions available for all slots and the uLoader seems to like the lower versions).
The "normal" order for installation that some apps expect is (IIRC) :
202 - 60
222 - 37
223 - 38
224 - 57

also, if WiiMC happens to just be using what the HBC gives it, I'd reinstall a clean IOS58 (there's like only ONE rare game that actually uses that so cIOSCORP isn't gonna hate you for it) and run the HackMii installer again to have it running off of 58.

See if either of those help you.

Before I install IOS58, which game(s) needs this IOS?

Your Shape is the only one I know of
If you're worried about it, WiiBackupManager can tell you what IOS your games want to run off of.
There's always the option of playing it through a BackupLoader on a cIOS (even if it's still a DVD-R disk)
and if all else fails, DARKCORP (the newest versions of cIOSCORP) has a IOS58 that you can install AFTER running the HackMii installer that actually WON'T turn the HBC upside down.

EDIT : again, not sure if this will actually fix your problem but it's worth a shot.

I might have to grab the newest version of Darkcorp. The IOS58 installer from WiiBrew gives me an error.

Just get ModMii and tell it to download the WAD to your computer.
You can just install it with a WAD manager then.

EDIT : Also, the it won't let you INSTALL it when the DARKCORP 58 is there, but it won't notice it if you put it back AFTER installing HackMii.

I think I got a DVD+R to run once by changing the book type to DVD-ROM but it was REALLY slow and error prone. I think it's not reflective enough for the laser to read well. I don't see why the USB-DVD drive wouldn't read it, though. (Although I haven't tried.) since you can actually even run a small Wii game off of a CD-R with one.

I have one disc that is a -R and the others are +R(DL) I'm about to burn a season of a show onto a -R in a few hours so I'll test that disc first before messing with IOS 58

EDIT: Just finished testing a DVD-R and I got a crash in WiiMC and MPlayer. Looks like it's time to go get IOS 58 and hope that I don't brick my Wii :P

IOS58 should be fine to install. FWIW, I've been able to read a variety of DVD types, though sometimes WiiMC will code dump for no apparent reason.
