So I got an ISO for Kingdom Hearts (NTSC) which I patched.
I then proceeded to burn at 4x on Imgburn using Verbatim Lightscribe DVD-R

I placed the disk in and much to my dismay ESR/Free Mc Boot just went straight to the main menu and whenever
I try launching the disk it just goes back to the main menu.

ESR and Free McBoot does work with other games that I've burned on Memorex disks however.

I examined the disk I burned and i saw the burn pattern was kind of funky. There appears to be a middle area where my burner didn't bother burning
then the rest of it was burned.

So I figured "maybe it was a bad burn.." so I reburned it at a slower speed..same disk pattern..same results on the PS2. I tested the ISO I downloaded
on an emulator and it boots fine...

I attempted to photograph the DVD-R but you can't really see the difference so I used my pro-MS Paint skills to show the inner unburned reigon : http://tinypic.com/r/iqym52/6
The part inside the red circle is the darker area, which usually means as far as my limited knowledge can tell, is the area that isn't burned.

So any of you guys got any ideas on how to get this thing to burn right or get the Free McBoot to read it?

Looks ok to me.
And i think its against the rules to talk about ISO,ROMS etc.
Illegal stuff you know.

Well, try to burn it on a other disc or try with DVD+R.
If it still does not work then play it via SMB on OPL or copy the ISO on HDD/USB Stick(and again run it with OPL)

It's fine to talk about ROMs, ISOs, whatever, just don't link to any illegal material.

Also, you shouldn't have any issues burning it, just throw it into the fireplace where it belongs.

OFF TOPIC: Then i got the warning for nothing....
Providing links or telling anybody where to get them is against the rules.

Real Reason:

Code:
Remove xxxxxxxx from your posts (quote included)

If you get caught with it, then ur suspended.

And i wasn't online so i got a warning
Might want to remove that word or risk another warn, lol.
That place has ROM files, so that's why the warn was given...

Ohh wait..... i just google Dica*tia and found out that, THAT really is a ROM SITE!!
It may have the same name but the Dica*tia that i thought was the patcher not the site.

It was about Pokemon Black and about the AP thing.
You could not dump the game and instant play it on your Flashcard.
So thats why i said Dica*tia, and i am sure that i said patcher.

Okay I singled out the issue. There's something wrong with the DVD-Rs..I reburned a game that worked on a memorex dvd+r previously and I got the same issue on my PS2. Does Free McBoot only work on DVD+Rs or something?

My PS2 runs games just fine on DVD-R's. Maybe you just got a bad batch? Also, I believe for all of the KH games, you need to burn them at x8 speed, exactly, otherwise they'll have performance issues. No idea why though.

Also, you should look into Open PS2 Loader. I highly recommend it.

I've only ever used -R for PS2. I also never had an issue with Kingdom Hearts loading, but I didn't do any patching, just used Swap Magic. I burn at whatever the slowest speed the software accepts. Don't remember how I burned it, but probably Nero.
