I don't get how they could mess up so badly.

How do you know this? You're guessing based on "The new iPad".

It will be called iPhone one billion, and will come with a Korean flag on it.

And the shadow on number 12 is the number 5 so maybe they call it iPhone 5 (as they called Mario Kart 7 for the 9th game of the series)

For me the name do not matter, I just hope to see innovation on it. The 4S release was pretty disappointing to me.

I really wish Apple would just ditch numbers. Like the iPad, and all of their computers.

Just "The (new) iPhone" simple and all the customer has to do is say that to get it.

Actually, I think this would just cause more confusion.

The announcement will make me decide whether I want to switch from iPhone 4 to iPhone 5, or switch to Android. Pretty excited tbh, hopefully I'm not disappointed.

I have a contract ending this October, and it's either a Galaxy S3/Note 2 or the iPhone 5.

The major deal breaker for me is the processor. If its A5X, I'm out. (I already have the new iPhat)
I hope the screen gets bumped too, but I don't care about NFC and the new connector.

A bit far fetched, but my hopes:
- A6 chip (Quad Core) -> EDIT: After seeing the startup video I can assume it uses the A6 since its a lot faster
- 4.0" Retina Display
- 12MP iSight Camera
- Stereo Speakers
- NFC into Passbook (although chances are I won't use it)
- At least 1GB RAM
-IMPROVEMENT IN DURABILITY
- The NEW deal breaker: 4G LTE

The iPhone lost it's innovation after it's first revision.

To be honest, most phones lack innovation if you don't count better CPU/GPU, bigger screens and more improved stuff.

The GS2 -> GS3 for example: better CPU/GPU, bigger and better display, S Voice, a LOT of software tweaks, NFC (but I heard that GS2 already has it, it was just unannounced) and better battery.

I have no idea what else to innovate in ANY phone besides these improvements and tweaks.

i can't wait for iphone 6 because that's when i'll be upgrading.

but anyway, i want to see more of the iphone maps with 3d rendering. i wonder if it will be the same quicktime vr they license to google or if they added features, or maybe it is fully 3d rendered.
