This was already mentioned on the other thread about the new MGS game, as it was announced at the same event: http://gbatemp.net/topic/333531-new-metal-gear-game-announced/page__st__15
Avi Arad will be a producer on the movie, who has previously worked on "The Incredible Hulk, The Amazing Spider-Man, X-Men, and Iron Man".
Note that there is no cast or director attached as of yet.

I have high hopes, but I won't be surprised if it turns out to be crap.

heres hoping David Hayter could be brought in to work on the script, seeing as he has been playing the role of Solid Snake for 14 or so years

He also wrote for X-Men.

I'd actually like to see him as the actor too. He's not a far cry from Snake and any voice that isn't his as Snake would bother me.

Regardless though, I don't see the need for a movie on a franchise known for having like 2 hours of cutscenes per game at least.

The only thing this movie can accomplish is disappointment.

MGS is an unique game series with already a shit ton of in-game movies (which I absolutely love). We don't need a cinematic experience of MGS because we already have one ; the MGS series

i don't think this avi avrad guy will do metal gear solid justice. i'm sure someones gonna have sex or a girlfriend in the movie and yadda yadda. the only one who could capture the spirit of metal gear or even make this a 70+ rated movie is christopher nolan.

metal gear has a serious tone in the series, a sense of urgency/danger. ya need nolan. christian bale could play Snake well anyway.
