I was wondering if it is possible to hack Chrono Trigger DS's text so that it resembles the original SNES version more. I played it today and was pretty upset at the name changes, since I played it on the SNES years ago.
Thanks for help.

It's mostly dialogue item, and Tech names that get on my nerves, no name changes. Alot of them changed. Like "Flametoss" became Flamethrower.

Thanks for the reply. What are some tools that I may need to edit the text?

That I wouldn't know. I can only grasp the overall complexity of a Japanese to English translation, or any language that does not use a Romanized alphabet to one that does.

This is just english to english. You really shouldn't be running into the common problems that the translators do.

It should at least be simpler than a Japanese to English translation. I don't see why it wouldn't be possible.
What would be the point of translating Japanese on Chrono Trigger? Chrono Trigger DS (J) actually came with an english pack that you could access with your DS' language settings, or force through an AR code. I even think there was a Jap/Eng option in the options. Though I know exactly what you was meaning, I just thought that you forgot that Chrono Trigger DS is one of the rare japanese games that came with English on it.

And to me, its more annoying that the OP is annoyed by a few name changes... That was 1994. You know what else has happened since 94? Final Fantasy getting better/more acurate translations, effectively eliminating retarded terms like fenix down. Srsly.... give me flamethrower over flametoss or Bartz over Butz any day.

It's called nostalgia and preference. I Iiked Frogs' Old English speech and the old names. I just don't like the alterations, and I'd like to make a little project out of it.
