Hey folks. I've recently modded my Black 4.3U Wii with a WiiKey Drive Fusion chip. I've gotten ALMOST everything to work to be able to play games from my external WD Elements 1.5TB HDD. I've been trying to get Monster Hunter Tri to work unsuccessfully. I get to "Begin Game" and I get a *beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep* sound with a black screen. I've tried everything I can think of to get it to work and finally registered here. I've got IOS236 installed, IOS 222+223 Hermes and blah blah. Still being a total P.O.S.

Here is my syscheck log:

I have a soft mod ....but trying to remember , I think I use 249 to play the game.....and I use wii flow as my loader.... I believe you can still soft mod your wii even if your chipped ( I know that would defeat the purpose )

IIRC, MHT requires the use of an IOS other than the standard IOS249. I think it either requires a cIOS with the base of 37, 56, or 57 to work correctly. I'm sure someone else will chime in here and let you know.

But in the end, I don't think the game is fully worth the effort. Try Xenoblode Chronicles instead, it has a hell of a story line and some of the best gameplay of any wii game out there (arguably).

If I remember correctly, Monster Hunter Tri requires base 37 or 56 to work correctly. Based on your setup, you should try loading Monster Hunter Tri with cIOS248.

Dude take it easy. Get Modmii, install the d2x cios wads. Try 249 and if id does not work use 250.

Loading into cIOS248 brings me to a black screen that says a problem occured and to eject + restart.

I've already installed d2x

Loading 250 = An error has occurred.
Press the Eject Button, remove the
Game Disc, and turn off the power to the
console. Please read the Wii Operations
Manual for further instructions.

Loading 249 brings to immediately to the same black screen and I can't even pick the settings first.

Oh man now none of my games on my HDD work T_T T_T

Tatsunoko vs Capcom was working fine. If I load any game now I get the same black screen of death.

Solution, use Pimp my Wii, it basically automatically installs the most optimal ios setups possible then try loading through ios 222 or 223 I think to get Monster Hunter Tri to work.

DONT DO THAT!!! Are you fucking kidding me?!? Are you new? Pimp My Wii (a.k.a. Brick My Wii) is a horrible app to use.

Instead, use ModMii. Everyone here will tell you that it is the app to use for wii modding.

There's a possibility that you're missing a d2x with the base needed to run the game. I would recommend downloading the newest d2x installer and install it with every base possible.

Monster Hunter Tri was a b*tch to run on a modded Wii, but if I remember correctly, it works perfectly fine on HERMES cIOS'es. Try Base 36 or Base 57 ones. I'm convinced either 222 or 223 from the default install works.

Jeez, I guess it has some bad history I don't know about but I've yet to ever brick a Wii using that app, but ModMii is definitely ideal if you don't have a proper bootmii installation.

forgive me for the off-topic again, but we were really on topic because the OP created the topic about that.

He was obviously asking for the attention, and we gave it. We were just helping a brother out.

Well, from what I've heard from my parents, he had a seizure last night, perhaps an epileptic episode, fucking died, had a near death experience, my dad called the paramedics, they showed up, took him to the hospital, and he woke up covered in tubes, and started complaining.
