Bored. Tried messing with NSMB2 JP game files. Copied the entire folder to my US 3DS. Tried renaming filenames and etc. Tried changing the main file with another downloadable rom eg. Puzzle Bubble Universe? Copied the entire folder to other destination folders on both US and JP units. And nothing. Well, I have some spare time so doing stupid things is cool. I know that this is far from hacking but whatever. Now waiting for "cool story bro~" :D

OK then, you're a hacker? You still make convenient things, that's what matters. :)
Nah, I don't make things. The only thing I have ever released is 3DS Video, which was a quick script I threw together from other people's work, and then other people fixed the bugs I had in it and improved it far more than I could have. I haven't made anything else overly useful for the homebrew/hacking community.

You sure? I could swear your username is floating around the internet with a reputation.

Or, I could be going out of my mind..

Haha, a reputation isn't necessarily a good thing :P Anyway, people may know my name, but I haven't really contributed a huge amount to the scene, at least in regard to hacks or anything. I mostly just talk about stuff in forums and whatever.

There's nothing like an un-hackable system (reference to PS3 and iOS).
Even if a developer spent whatever time developing any kind of software, you're still bound to find exploits.
I believe (or love to) that neimod has actually made far more than significant progress in the overall process of hacking the 3DS but still has a lot more to do.
As far as I understood from images he posted (I think that was on myspace), he now copied the Operating System 3DS is running on and is working on an environment easier than the original hardware.

Anyway, I'm currently waiting for the OUYA for the very reason of out-of-the-box hackability : )
I agree. I don't understand what SifJar is talking about when he said an exploit won't be possible. *cough cough, George Hotz*

Just saying.

I was just explaining to you what neimod had said. You said this: "So basically what [neimod] is saying is that the only way it will get hacked is through an exploit." That is the complete opposite of what he said. neimod specifically said that there will not be an exploit. That is not me saying it, I am just repeating what neimod (who knows a great deal more about the matter than you or I) actually said, rather than letting you repeat a completely opposite statement and credit it to him.

I perceived it in a different way, my apologies. I don't know if you saw the post by my friend Transdude but from my understanding, the DeSmuME developer said he will focus on 3ds emulation after 1.0. However, from what I was told by another fellow friend, he said that the only way he will be able to do that is if he had the common key in order to convert it into a digital format.

I can't see anyway he could do it without the common key certainly, it is necessary to decrypt the games, and the games must be decrypted before running them. I don't know how he intends to get it, or maybe he just plans to use the info from 3DS brew etc. to start writing the emulation code, and just wait until the common key is released before adding support for actually playing commercial 3DS games. Maybe this will be the first time we have an emulator for homebrew on a console before having homebrew on the console itself, or an emulator for commercial games :P

As far as I understood from images he posted (I think that was on myspace),
Yes, all the best hackers use MySpace to share their hacks and discoveries.
Well, since you seem sarcastic about your point, I did the simple task of googling it for you.
And, yes, he posts progression images and can be found in his flicker account Here.
They sure are old, but still progress nonetheless.

EDIT: and what do you know, some people "shared their hacks and discoveries" over CNN : )

I know very well that he has posted images on flickr. Flickr is not MySpace.

Yeah, writing an emulator without stuff to emulate makes sense.
We already have the 3ds libs to do homebrew, so once the emu is written there's nothing holding people back from starting the projects.

Yeah, writing an emulator without stuff to emulate makes sense.
There are already tools which supposedly create 3DS binaries.

As long as there is no way to execute 3ds code it doesn't make sense to use such tools.
Hence an emulator would be of use. For testing code. So that if the 3DS does finally get hacked some day, there'll already be stuff to run on it. Plus some people enjoy the challenge of coding for a different architecture to what they are used to, even if they can't run the code on that platform. (There are people who download emulators and homebrew SDKs for consoles they don't have, just for the challenge of coding for a new platform).

The guy behing DeSuMe (or whatever it's called) has said he wants to start working on a 3DS emulator. Without the common key, all that emulator could possibly do is run homebrew. I'm not saying it's a particularly good idea to write such an emulator right now, but if that's what he wants to do, that's up to him. This way, if the common key does get revealed some time, he'll just have to add a little bit of decryption code to the emulator, and it'll be practically ready to run 3DS ROMs straight away.

If he is confident that he will make a 3ds emulation, then do you think he has the common key?

If you hold a 3ds in salt water for a few hours, you can play 3ds roms from the sd card.
