OnLive Comes to Ouya

This console is making my holiday decision making process hard. On one side I REALLY want a WiiU and on the other end the Ouya feels like more bang for your buck. Granted the Ouya will be out a little after holiday 2012, I told my Wife I want a Ouya pre order. My biggest reason is that I plan to bring at least one of my projects to Ouya and even talked to one of their reps about different controller types, most importantly a motion solution (wink* Wii Remotes).
I didn't know about feeling like more bang for your buck since the big 3 still have hardware, so you didn't have to rely on the internet for bigger games and they still have physical copies. That said, I think if the Ouya goes well, Ouya + console would be a nice combo.

I think I like "A".

I would be nice if it had a screen on it since you wouldn't need to rely on a TV. Maybe that's the Ouya 2, just maybe.

The D-Pad needs a huge change. As long as we don't get downward parallel sticks (i.e. PS and OnLive) I'm good.

Not sure how I feel about the trackpad on the controller, nor a touchscreen either. I'd rather have nothing there, either one would just make the controller feel...crowded I think. It's not as if you're going to be doing a lot of input anyways, at most the name of a game and a username/email and password to log into things. This shouldn't need to be a facebook/twitter/email/IM/whatever the hell else thing, we already have hundreds of devices that do that already.

Only thing I could imagine using a touch screen on the console is cross game chat. But you could just as well make a microphone connection to deal with it, which would be smarter IMHO. Also, why not just release a touchpad controller separate from the original controller the same way as the WiiU (huge tablet + classic controller styled ones)? It's not like everyone want the touch pad :P

Err... After I think about it, I'll take any style.

It would be pointless and a waste a time to have two different controllers since not even the controller overall design isn't different than a regular controller unlike the UPad.

I think it's a little redundant to keep posting about things coming to the Ouya. It has Android, if it's not officially supported then as soon as someone installs a Custom ROM on it, it probably will be.

Wouldn't it be awesome if this ends up getting ports of games never before released out side of Japan? Ever if it is old to very old games...

I've ignored onlive since I first read about it.
Looks like it's becoming something that will stay around awhile. For $99 I might pick one up at some point. I do prefer hard copies of my games though. What happens if you buy a game and onlive is down for awhile or goes out of business altogether? That's my real concern. Also, sticks that aren't parallel ftw.

You'll lose the game but that's just part of how the service works. OnLive has been around for a while now and I don't see them collapsing anytime soon.

It's a quality service but whether the pros outways the cons differs from person to person. If you're playing on a crappy PC then it definitely has a lot of pros, being able to play high requirement games (like Arkham City, for instance) on a crap rig is really cool. But there's input lag (personally it's not noticeable after a few minutes), smaller playerbase (meaning you can't play with non-OnLive game owners), internet connection required (so if your internet goes down, is crappy, or you're on a laptop on the go, you're out of luck), and there's of course the fear that you could lose all your games if the service dies.

Cool. Too bad I can't see the images. You should try the consoles too.
Try kickstarter?

I'm sorry that you were no able to see the images. Look like Ouya Forum is forcing people to be members to see images. Let's try this...

NOTE: This is all very early stuff but I wanted to show that the project IS being developed. Also, if the links don't work, I'll repost the pics on Facebook so people can see.

They still don't load. You might want to try Imgur (or upload them to GBAtemp directly).

@ Gahars: The game is supposed to be a bit silly. Besides, does "Viewtiful Joe" instill fear? lol :D Love the guy but unless you know about his power set, he doesn't sound like he will kick your ass.

Viewtiful Joe was a deliberate throwback to B movie cheesiness, and his origin story didn't involve the violent death of any of his loved ones.

If you want to keep the tone silly, how about just make it a kidnapping? The basic origin could still be the same, it would be a neat inversion of the typical "father has to save kidnapped daughter" plot, and it wouldn't clash with the lighter, goofier tone.
