OnLive Comes to Ouya

I would seriously doubt it. There's not much reason to get OnLive for consoles when you can already buy most of the games available there for the console itself. The exception is a few PC exclusives but most of the time there's a reason they're PC exclusive.

OnLive will probably stay put on the PC, mobile platforms, and a few dedicated home consoles for it (aka not The Big Three consoles).

As an idea, this is great. Still won't make me buy the console straight away. So far my TV has 3 consoles hooked up (Wii, PS3, PS2) and my MBP when watching series. Add the Raspberry Pi that should be arriving in a while (Shipping estimates are at around 20 weeks now for new orders) and I'll have up to 5 devices. Most can be done with them. Regardless, good luck to the team behind the new console. Hopefully the Android platform becomes a possibility instead of a hindrance (game quantity >> game quality / replayability).

This console is making my holiday decision making process hard. On one side I REALLY want a WiiU and on the other end the Ouya feels like more bang for your buck. Granted the Ouya will be out a little after holiday 2012, I told my Wife I want a Ouya pre order. My biggest reason is that I plan to bring at least one of my projects to Ouya and even talked to one of their reps about different controller types, most importantly a motion solution (wink* Wii Remotes).

I'm pretty sure there was an update on the kickstarter page that said they were going to add an ethernet port.

Any way I'm glad I jumped on through kickstarter and can't wait for this thing to launch!

Even the Raspberry Pi can fit an ethernet controller and it's honestly small. Regardless, the Ouya kickstarter page was updated a while ago and the ethernet was confirmed.

Thanks for the update. Also, the Ouya team is asking people to decide on controller style

You can reply on their FB page. Personally I think they should nix the trackpad for a 3 inch touch screen to at least be on par with he WiiU and PS3/Vita combo

120 wont be a killer when you compare it to other consoles. The fact is, you don't want devs to feel as if they are lacking tools. Also a QVGA resistive touch screen isn't THAT much

Not the point. Some people might want to send out a quick text message or chat with friends. Most gamers want their consoles to be all inclusive and with a touch screen instead of a trackpad the Ouya can do this. I like many other indy devs want the Ouya to succeed. Frankly the touch screen is needed. I can thank of a dozen reasons to have a screen on that controller but I wont go there.

The only thing going against them is the rudimentary multi-touch capabilities of those things in my opinion. For single-point input, I consider them superior. More versatility in input devices (a resistive stylus is more affordable and more precise than a capacitive one, plus you can use anything from fingernails to your nose as a pointer) and pressure sensitivity.

The WiiU uses a single point resistive touch screen. You're not going to do, heavy game controlling with the touch screen, just quick input. We dont want to take away from the buttons on the controller. Same sentiment Nintendo had with the WiiU Gamepad. It's not a "prefect" solution but it's on that works a hell of a lot better than the trackpad that is currently on the Ouya controller.

I didn't know about feeling like more bang for your buck since the big 3 still have hardware, so you didn't have to rely on the internet for bigger games and they still have physical copies. That said, I think if the Ouya goes well, Ouya + console would be a nice combo.

I think I like "A".

I would be nice if it had a screen on it since you wouldn't need to rely on a TV. Maybe that's the Ouya 2, just maybe.
