Could it be this easy?

I looked into the files my 3DS created in my SD Card. There is a folder which contains Demo Apps.
I transfered this folder into another SD card. Amazingly, my 3DS recognise it and even playable.
Then I thought, could it be this easy for distributing (or back-up) digital-downloaded games? (e.g. NSMB2)
Yes, between the single 3DS system that the games were downloaded on.
How about transferring to another?
It's locked to the eShop account that paid for it.

What if I deleted my eShop account after downloading the app? Won't it still work?
If it still works, there maybe a little exploring to do. ^^
I don't think so, but you can try if you want. I'll be keeping my eShop account..
Me too. Ha Ha!

This is the first thing people tried. Your downloads are locked to your 3DS. No, deleting accounts won't work.

I think a lot of hackers that are working on the 3DS aren't telling us NEARLY everything they know... I honestly think neimod's picture of the hacked RAM code (for a little bit of text) is just a teaser... Wish we weren't so in the dark sometimes. But anyways, is anyone probing more than just the RAM? I wonder if there is ANY way to moniter code being proccesed in the cpu/ onboard chip... If only there was some sort of graphics overload we could use....
Are we looking at modding the 3ds hardware in order to jailbreak this thing in theory? Sorry I am new here and I am interested with this topic. Would you mind filling me in with the details?

If you want to be filled in on what is happening, find an empty 4 hour segment in your schedule and read all 69 pages of this topic.

You'll see why some of us are pissed off. :hateit:
Can you give me a bottom line? For example, we can't either jailbreak or homebrew the 3ds and the hackers have a huge obstacle that is nearly impossible to overcome for the 3ds, etc.

People have suggested using QRs, Miis, file mods, crashes, game mods, and the web. All of them won't work. Reasons: encryptions, doesn't openly access the system directly, detections of unusable code.

That is the shortest way to state what all of the 69 pages talk about. The only suggestions that have been unanswered or are in current use is hardware mods and Bluetooth.
So people think this won't get hacked at all?

So far, not right now. Neimod has made some progress, but other than that, the only other speculation is Pokemon Black and White Version 2 since those haven't come out yet. All we can really do right now is just sit and wait.

And we all know how hard that is. In the meantime just try to enjoy yourself some way some how.
I know this might sound stupid but I was thinking about Indiana Pwns, would we need something similar? BTW I'm not a programmer so go easy on me. :D

Team Twiizers used most of the same code from their Twilight Hack and it is achieved by using save files. The problem is that the save files are encrypted as well.

So, what people are stressing about mostly is how are we going to get the the encryption keys. One of the ways that have been suggested to exploiting this have been asking a higher-up Nintendo employee :p1ng: (which will never happen). The other option has been given the scenario of opening a locked room when the key is already locked inside. So what we are hopping for is that while hard-modding the 3DS, :nds: Niemod will find the keys to it in the process. After all, Team Twiizers first hard-modded the Wii and then soft-modded it after finding an exploit.

Also, I just remembered this but Nintendo is releasing a DSiWare program called "Petit Computer" which is basically a program that allows you to write programs using an adapted version of the BASIC programming language. Right now it has no official date or price, but you can find it in the e-shop. I believe that this is going to be the closest we can currently get to 3DS homebrew.
I don't know if it's too early to ask but do you have a rough estimate or guess to when he will get the keys or a solution to this issue?

Who knows? It could be next week or it could be another year until he finds it.

Right now, the closest we can get to an actual homebrew channel is "Petit Computer" when it comes out. Other than that, just bare with everything else such as drawing on "Colors! 3D" or watching videos on the camera program.

I thought that I was missing one of the failed suggestions. Now we have the complete list. Thank you.

No need for the huge quote wall of stuff that won't work. Just sayin...

It was so that we wouldn't have people filling the next 20 pages with the same failed ideas, again.
Question, lets say we found an exploit through an app/game on the 3ds. Nintendo then fixes it with a firmware update. Does it sound possible to downgrade our 3ds's firmware in order to use the exploit/s?

If you are willing to not play the games that need the update. Though it also depends on the exploit. If it is like Twilight Hack where it scans the files for errors, then that could be fixed. If it is like the Smash Stack hack where it uses outside files for reference, then that could take a while to fix.

Honestly I understand about 50% of what I read and hear about this subject, so I'm not like the foremost expert on this subject. If anybody else can say it better, please do?
Here is 3DSbrew's list of exploits: http://3dbrew.org/wiki/3DS_exploits

Also "Petit Computer" is being released on June 19 for $7.99 for those wondering. :yaynds:

Nope, downgrading won't be possible without a working exploit for the later update as well, in which case there is no point in downgrading because there is an exploit for the latest software.

(In case this doesn't quite make sense the way I worded it, let's say we have v4.0 [no idea what 3DS is on right now, but I don't think it's that high] and someone finds an exploit for that version of the software. Nintendo release v4.1, which fixes this. To keep the exploit, people will have to avoid the v4.1 update. If they DO update, they will no be able to get back to v4.0 without an exploit that works on v4.1, at which point it becomes unnecessary to downgrade. The only possible reason to downgrade would be if a large number of software version specific hacks popped up between the release of the v4.0 exploit and the release of v4.1 [system menu patches etc.] that would take a considerable time to port, or else couldn't be ported because Nintendo made substantial changes to the system software between v4.0 and v4.1)

What would you recommend us to do when it comes down to updates? Should we keep updating or should we keep the version that we are on and wait for the exploit?

Seeing as there is unlikely to be an exploit in the near future, I'd say go ahead and update whenever there are updates. If an exploit is ever released, it'll be released for the latest software version at that time (only exception being if Nintendo somehow block it before it is released, probably inadvertently), in which case the exploit will probably be announced as soon as the author discovers it's been blocked.

Long story short, keep updating unless you hear otherwise from a reputable member of the scene. (although don't feel the need to be the first to install new updates)

Do you see us getting custom firmware when the homebrew channel is released? Just a thought.

it's not a case of when, it's a case of "if"

Edit: but no, probably not. It would be completely unnecessary if it were already possible to install custom channels and load homebrew.

This will probably not lead to an exploit but:
Start Mario Kart 7 up and go to the bottom option which is Chaine Mario Kart (Mario Kart channel in English I think) and open it. Then press the back button. Now theres 2 options here:
Take out the game cart after like 2 seconds while it says something like " Please don't remove game cart or sd card" Then the game should still be running for like 1~2 seconds, then it will show an error like this (It's in French):
487253_440027329376028_1381798885_n.jpg

The other way is when you press back, it should say "Don't remove game cart or sd card", then you hold the power button down and press turn off. However, it looks like the 3ds is still writing to the SD card and the game cart. If you take the game cart out after you press turn off, it will ask you to go press the HOME button to go to the home menu. So, the system doesn't actually turn off until it's finished.
I speak and read French a little bit, but I don't know the language fluently.

Also now I can't connect online, and the game takes forever to turn off. When I go online, it just keeps saying "Connecting to server" or something and it never connects. Then when I suspend the software from the home menu, it takes about 5 min to close. Anybody know the issue here?

When it says not to take stuff out, don't freaking take stuff out.
You may have ruined your 3DS/MK7.

Yeah, I think I did. It only connects to the wifi sometimes, but now my browser isn't even working. I dropped it last week on hard wood floor from a meter high. I still have waranty though!

Try formatting it.
You'll keep all of your eShop stuff.
