If people don't try nothing will come. If people want emulation on this platform then people will try to achieve that.

I personally would like emulation and even without emulation it is still a nice download.

Though I do believe that emulation is completely possible.

The programs can be generated through qr codes though. You could have a program find a rom file and put it in qr code form allowing it to be scanned and downloaded.

Also it wouldn't be a hack. It would be using exactly what the program entails.

The only issue about emulating on this platform is that someone would have to put a good deal of time in to do it.

... Find a rom file and put it in a QR code.

First we'd need to decipher the QR code.

Then we'd need to remake the entire bloody ROM in BASIC.

Go grab Pokemon Red and remake it in BASIC for me. Then we'll talk.

I seriously can't believe you typed that.

Well, yeah. I would love to be completely wrong. But it literally would make no sense for Nintendo to release something so easily exploited, hence I really don't think I am.

It would take far more than one person to set this up. I believe that if the community puts forth the effort then we can be successful at this. It would only needed to be done once, creating a program that turns a rom file into a qr code that when scanned allows that game to be played through the petit computer itself.

Anything that's possible with Petit Computer would be 10 times easier and efficient on devkitpro. Right now, we have decent 8-bit emulation on devkitpro and marginal gba emulation. Where does that leave Petit? Nobody with any ability would be dumb enough to try to find out.

YOU CANNOT PUT A ROM INTO A QR CODE AND HAVE IT MAGICALLY SPIT OUT THE PROPER BASIC PROGRAMMING FOR IT TO WORK.

You would have to remake the game in BASIC, which means you're not even using a ROM anymore, and that would mean IT IS A REMAKE.

The bloody thing isn't strong enough to EMULATE and BASIC is NOT the language to code an emulator in.

I'm done posting in this thread, I'm just going to keep getting angrier and that is not a good thing.

Can you run devkitpro on an actual dsi or 3ds without the use of a flashcart? I believe not.

But one of the prospects of petit computer is the ability to make games. It could easily run an nes game if people spent time trying to set this up.

YOU do it then. YOU go ahead and make an NES game in BASIC and then make it run. are YOU gonna do it? doubt it.

wow, there is a lot of anger here. I think if one works hard enough at something than anything is possible.

Yup, if you work REALLY hard at programming with this "Petit Computer", you can make your DSi or 3DS turn into a car.
well if you can make an app good enough through the program, you may be able to sell it for enough money to buy a car. :yaynds:

I'm surprised at the overwhemingly negative reaction. All I said is that with the software used it is very possible to emulate other systems using petit computer. Since someone has already made a petit computer code to qr code available for computers it could very well be done. I've used basic before so I'm going to give a try. You may think that I'm crazy for suggesting this or that since I'm new to the forums I'm inexperienced but that isn't a valid excuse to consider my ideas worthless. Whether I succeed or fail remember that I tried to help the community.

So much rage in this thread that it isn't even funny.

Nothing wrong with this program. I would say that it's good for getting kids introduced to programming and should be fun to tinker with.

The problem is not so much that you suggested it, it's the fact that when it's been explained to you why it's not possible, you have gone ahead and said "no, it is possible" without providing any argument against the reasons presented to you why it is not technically possible.

You may think that I'm crazy for suggesting this or that since I'm new to the forums I'm inexperienced but that isn't a valid excuse to consider my ideas worthless.

Inexperience isn't a reason to consider your ideas worthless. It being impossible to do makes it worthless.

By the way, there's no way you can compact an entire source code listing into a QR code. That QR code will be linking to an URL somewhere on Nintendo's servers that provides the source code.

Not sure if you guys realize this, but the link in the first post says that it is for the "DSi." Even though it is run on the 3DS, it will likely only have access to the DSi sandbox.
