There are a number of things that I am wondering about regarding the 3dsXL, but I don't see any of this stuff mentioned in any reviews, as reviewers are apparently satisfied to just tell us the obvious, like, its got bigger screens -_-

1. Does the bottom screen still scratch the top? I've heard this is fixed, but I want to be sure.
2. Is the hinge still loose, causing the top screen to be really floppy?
3. Is the D-pad any better than the one on the 3ds? The 3ds has one of the worst d-pads I have ever felt. The ones on the DSlite and even the original DS were much superior. Can someone tell me what other nintendo d-pad it most closely feels like?

1. Apparently this was fixed as there is no raised edge on the bottom screen
2. Chances are anything with a hinge will eventually get loose, so...meh.
3. The D-pad is the same I think...

The 3DS d-pad just needs to break in a little, a little lubrication will help if it's squeaky. If it wasn't for the location I'd say that the 3DS d-pad is better than the one on a DS lite but the Original DS and DSi d-pads are still a little bit better though.

The screen smudging was solved in newer 3DS systems with better rubber pads, so I'm guessing the XL won't be seeing this problem.
And for those of you who have this problem, it's easily solved if you cut out strip of screen protector film and apply it above the screen. This way you don't need to worry about dirt or bubbles getting in between.

Preview after preview praises the XL d-pad. I have no idea what kind of stomped on crack cocaine anyone is smoking if they say the d-pad is going to be the same. The original 3DS has a SHIT AWFUL d-pad, AWFUL for precision games (VVVVVV.)

I don't think I've seen a single 3DS XL hands-on preview video that didn't mention the improved d-pad. Why anyone would say it's not going to be improved is beyond my grasp. Trolling ? Idiocy ? A mystical 3rd option ? I guess I just have to keep learning.

It's not out yet. No answer can be accurate.
So I shouldn't trust my lying eyes when I see youtube vids of people playing the system ? I shouldn't trust anything in the entire world till I get one myself ?
I didn't know there were people who had played them, sorry.
Where did those people get them?

To me, the worst D-Pad was on the DS Lite. it didn't have clicks and you could press as hard as you want. Eventually it would "adjust" and you'll have to press very hard for it to work.

The 3DS D-Pad was not good, but certainly not as awful as on DS Lite IMO. The DSi XL D-Pad was slightly higher than the 3DS one. I hope with the 3DS XL it will be adjusted.

Played with a 3ds xl today in currys/pcworld. They have both the normal 3ds and xl out to play. XL did not seem as mushy as the standard 3ds, but the 3ds has been on display for ages there, so it could just be the d-pad is ruined due to all the people playing it.

Just FYI, my cosmo black launch 3DS has a crappy d-pad. It will occasionally squeak which isn't a big deal, but the thing that really makes it suck is pressing on 'right' doesn't really have a bottom. It just squishes down into a progressively stiff but never ending mush. It's perfectly usable and it's not a big deal, but its definitely sub-par in the world of Nintendo d-pad history.

But, my daughter's pink 3DS, which was purchased just before Christmas last year, has a very nice d-pad. All directions have definite 'bottoms', and there is no squeaking. It is as good as any DSLite d-pad I've ever used. Maybe 99% as good as my DSi XL's, which is my 2nd favorite Nintendo handheld d-pad ever (best is my AGS-101 GBA-SP).

When you play DS game on 3DS, can you use web browser on 3DS? I know that 3DS game can, but not sure about DS.

No. When you press the HOME button when playing a DS game you are prompted to close the program and return to the home menu, or return to the game.

Try the 360 controllers d-pad. Also, it is fixed. Everything has that clicky feel which everyone loves.

What about DSiware transfered from DSi?
