Hey!
I'd suggest a Blue Yeti microphone!
This is the one most LP-ers use!
The lowest price is 109$ = 70£

It's a bit expensive, but is well worth buying it! ;)
But for the best quality and performance I'd choose the Pro one, but its +250$ = 161£

But if the Blue Yeti is too expensive for you, then I'd suggest the Blue Snowball iCE !
This is 69$ = 44£

Here are some info's about both of them!
Blue Yeti / Blue Yeti Pro
Blue Sonwball iCE

I'd assume a headset would better suit your needs and in that case, I've got a Turtle Beach PX21 and don't regret buying i, works well for lets plays and whatnot plus the sound quality is excellent. I did a quick money conversion then and 40-50 quid is something like $70 USD. So I figure you should be able to pick one up for 40-50 quid.

I would fucking love to get blue yeti. however those are about £110 here in the UK.
Not sure how got Blue Snowball iCE is compared to regular mic's. Because there are quite a few option with that price range.

Headsets are vastly inferior to dedicated microphones (most of the money goes into the headphone part), don't try and do commentary on a headset, you would even be better with a cheap logitech usb microphone which is still doable although for commentary I would really recommend just saving some more money and getting something better.

I use a headset to record commentary for my Let's Plays. Two in fact, one fairly expensive Sennheiser and one of the cheaper Turtle Beach models. The sound quality from both is excellent. They only sound like crap when plugged into my on-board sound card instead of my HT Omega Claro+. I have a feeling that what you're really paying for with those expensive dedicated mics is just a decent sound card.
