It is, but only for Android 4.0+ devices for the time being. It's still in beta for Android so at a later stage it'll come to lower Android versions. But atleast it's entirely based on the Chrome desktop version and not some Safari clone with a different skin.

Dude google is like a benevolent giant. They make free shiz and dont care who uses it. Stealing your info and using it to target you with ads? Cool! Ads im actually interesting in, instead of female hair removal products.

ANYTHING is a good safari replacement.
I have been using dolphin for a bit now (sleep, fast) but ill go to chrome in a heart beat.

The problem is that the webpage engine isn't the one on the desktop version, because of Apple's TOS. It's the same Webkit one.

My only downside is that the scrolling is only about 50% smooth.

except it crashes all the time, froze my whole tablet about 5 times now

It's interesting how people criticize Google, a company that admittedly collects anonymous data concerning the use of their services... while at the same time they're in a thread about Chrome for iOS - a system made by yours faithfully Apple, and I don't even need to stress that their Data Collection Policies are "dubious" to the point that some of their representatives don't even know the extent of data collected.

People need to understand that this data is anonymous, there's nobody sitting in a dark cellar browsing through your family photos with a creepy grin on their face - stop being paranoid. This data is mostly handled by machines to *enhance your search results and/or geolocation application use* and to show you adverts that are more suitable and relevant to you. The sheer amount of the data collected from millions of users by proxy removes the human factor out of the equation.

Think this is true yes. The default internet browser was okay, but Dolphin Browser blew it out of the water IMHO. Haven't tried Chrome on an Android device though.

No, it uses WebKit .

Yes. It's WebKit on other platforms.
Same on iOS. iOS uses WebKit too(Mainly because Apple's the main people developing it)
But Apple requires devs who are making another browser on iOS use THEIR WebKit engine that they use in Safari. But they don't let them use their Nitro JavaScript engine. Which is faster than the JavaScript engine in in the WebKit they make them use.
It's a security thing. But as result of that, Safari is faster than any other iOS browser.

This is just on iOS. Doesn't have any effect on the Android one.
