I'm not bothered either way :)

I like buying games for a console again. it gives me incentive to sit and play my moneys worth outta them!

http://www.flickr.co.../in/photostream i know that old but

i saw this by neimod
"Indeed, there indeed has been an incredible amount of progress because of this, that's all I can say. (Otherwise it would ruin the surprise)"
any ideas?
I could be crazy, but is that image just an upside down 3ds?
The point is that the 3DS was still working after he replaced it's RAM with a contraption he invented.
True, though, he did take the picture upside down.
it could be because he uses a developed unit. Since its big and all cableness, its could be hack to just turn it or something for a picture. Understandable.
Yeah, it's like a really BIG yet primitive modchip.

It is obviously fake. Someone is toying with you when they say "Photoshop'ed, or REAL?" and put "HMMMM..." at the end of it.

It's a RAM hack, he changed the title data for the settings channel. What neimod has done is make a "cheat engine" style program and board for the 3ds that can change stuff in memory

Serious necro-posting going on in here. When I see this thread dredged up again, with the troll title 3DS Homebrew Channel!, a hot thread tag, and 27+ pages I nearly shat myself. Little did I know it was just this old thing again. Yes it was awesome, albeit just a POC, when it was first posted, but don't toy with my emotions like this guys! Not even anything new to add to the table! I'm thinking this should be locked. A new thread would be made anyways if Neimod released anything else so this one has run its course.

So you act like this thread needs to be gone and yet here you are posting in it and keeping it alive...internet people make me laugh sometimes

Hmm, if Neimod can make a raw ram view, he would be able to view and change chunks of data at once right?

So then he could change the pointer of a 3dsware app to load parts of a legit one, while loading a homebrew app for the rest right?

The problem if I understand it is people don't quite know how to program for 3ds yet (unless you signed a contract with Nintendo not to tell anyone, then you can get your hands on a real SDK.) so any homebrew he might write and use to further study 3ds workings would have to be limited to basic processor commands used by that type of proc.

Even if he could do that, I know at least WiiWare checks the signature on the app before loading to make sure it's genuine. I'd assume 3dsWare would, too.

It's not a cake walk but without what he's doing I don't think it would even be possible to eventually hack the 3ds.

This, we don't know the instruction set on the chipset inside the 3ds, not much can be done until we have the real sdk anyway

Uh-huh. Especially when he's the one that posted it. That's exactly what he wants you to think. It's real dude.
Yeah, I bet it's real... if I was dumb enough to believe it's not just a name change.

It's not photoshopped. It is a real, unaltered picture.
What you're looking at isn't a real homebrew channel. It's the settings channel but Neimod was able to alter the 3DS's RAM memory information and change the title of it with his heavily modded 3DS console setup.
So he REALLY did change the name of the settings channel but just in RAM so the next time he turned the console on the changes went away.
