Hacking What to do with clone carts

I have a flashcart that is nowhere near original. It is a r4i gold 3ds from r4i-gold.eu. I have been trying to update it but I'm always told there is an 'unknown chip'. Has anybody ever used one of these because I would love not to buy another one.
Also does anybody know about romachine?

You may have a different cart that has the wrong sticker on it (it happens), or a clone of a clone.

Save yourself headache and buy a flash cart with proper support.

Having a gazillion different R4 cards should ring a bell to someone that's not the real deal anymore...

But seriously, toss it and get a new flash cart. It's not worth the headache, to you, and especially to those who are to inevitably help you in the future.

Yeah, pretty much every ROM works with the latest Supercard so it's sure buy!
I only have the Supercard DSONE and with the last upgrade for it, I have had no trouble.

WoodR4 isn't bad indeed.
But for "noobies" it's not recommended.
1 thing doesn't work and they spam it like there's no tomorrow.

Imho they should jack up the prices of R4 cards to 70 quid.
It'll save a lot of headaches and annoyances of others from people asking the same question over and over and over again.

But it's quicker to solve then a unsupported R4 clone.

The thing is the AK2i and (proper) R4i Gold are in the same category as far as support goes. The people behind the cart itself make the firmware/bootloader updates, while the game compatibility updates are made by a separate group or person (contactable on the forums at times).

But the R4i Gold has updates within 24 hours- The Acekard needs more than one week.

Yeah, the acekard team isn't nearly as fast with their updates as they used to be, but as long as you don't update it's not an issue (and people who update their unit any time it asks are usually the people that get blocked out of their cart).
