Hacking Best current alternative MP3 player

Hi, so I've had my PSP for a while, and I use it as a MP3 player.

Buuuut... The built-in MP3 player lacks some features.

I wouldn't mind so much, but I'm the sort of guy that likes to play a random playlist of all my music in a big shuffle.

So fiddling with the PSP all the time kind of gets annoying.

I've had a look at some MP3 homebrew already around, and I haven't found much.
(most are either too basic, or too unstable for me)

The best of these is LightMP3.

But... its VERY VERY unstable.

Too unstable for my tastes. It just crashes for me after every few songs.
(Other homebrew mp3 players like Moonshell play my mp3s just fine, so I know its not my music)

Now I used to use my Caanoo as a music player, but its battery life was a bit short, and it only takes up to 32gb SD cards, (my PSP has 2 32gb class 4 microSDs in an adapter & a battery grip, making it last a long time at full battery capacity, and my iphone, despite being great at music playback, only has 16gb space).

I was hoping that I missed out something, somewhere, so I'm asking you people who have the pulse as it were, if there is any other decent mp3 player out there.
(Maybe a plug-in that improves the Sony one, or a homebrew one like the iphone player (imagine that! ))

(I mean, the Nintendo DS has better featured MP3 players! It had a iPod one that was suprisingly good, and Moonshell did a pretty good job for it, despite its hardware limitations)

To be honest I didn't know this existed.
(I guess it must have been added to a later firmware, I stopped playing the psp at around 5.00, but I came back to it recently!)

Now to see if there is a way to get the screen to turn off when I put the PSP on hold...

Before putting you psp on hold,hold the Brightness button to turn off the screen then turn on hold.

Just for future reference.

If a song is skipped in SensMe, it might have to do with the tags in the MP3.

I just rebuilt them using foobar2000 and they are working with the program.

(Else re-encoding (with a loss on quality) or re-ripping the music might help)

(The PSP is fussy with mp3 files in my experience, compared to other devices & mp3 playing software)

I don't know of a FLAC player but have you thought of converting to mp3 (192kbps bitrate or higher)?
