Hacking Updating Firmware question

I haven't touch my Acekard in awhile, I'm still on the bowtie of the icon. This was a few days before the Mario Kart 7 3ds update came out. Can I straight update to the current version thats out right now or do I have to do in a certain order and process?

you have to update the acekard before you update the system. if you update the system first then you'll have to update the acekard on a ds lite/phat as these do not have updatable firmware so they will always be usable.
